WordPress CMS vs. WordPress.com

Please note that WordPress CMS and WordPress.com are two different systems and are not compatible with each other. Nicepage works only with the self-hosted WordPress CMS, not WordPress.com. You can download the WordPress CMS from WordPress.org and install it on your own hosting, or use a hosting provider that already has WordPress installed.

What Is WordPress?

WordPress is a content management system, or CMS, that separates website design from content. The design is controlled by a theme, which usually includes the header, footer, blog and store styles, colors, fonts, and typography. Nicepage lets you create your own WordPress theme and design custom pages with more flexibility than the default WordPress editor.

Nicepage Editor and Application

The Nicepage Editor works as a WordPress plugin and allows you to create and edit Nicepage pages directly in WordPress using drag-and-drop tools. It is not intended for editing pages created with the default WordPress editor. You can also build your website with the Nicepage desktop application or Online Builder. The desktop application is currently required to create and edit WordPress themes and can be downloaded from Nicepage.com.

Create and Export Your Site

Open the Nicepage application, log in, and create a new site or open an existing one. When your website is ready, click Publish, select WordPress, and choose the file name and destination. The Theme and Editor Plugin options are selected by default, so the exported ZIP package includes your theme, plugin, and pages. You can also include WooCommerce templates if needed.

Install the Theme and Import Content

Open your WordPress Admin area, usually at your-site.com/wp-admin, and go to Appearance > Themes > Add New Theme > Upload Theme. Select the ZIP package exported from Nicepage, click Install Now, and then Activate. The Import Wizard will open automatically. Install the Nicepage Editor Plugin and click Import Content to import your pages, posts, products, images, menus, sidebar, and other content. If you previously imported the same content, select Replace previously imported Content to avoid duplicates.

Configure and Test the Homepage

After importing the website, click Visit Site to preview it. WordPress may display the Blog page as the homepage by default. To change this, return to the Dashboard and go to Settings > Reading. Select the Static Page option, choose your imported Home page, and click Save Changes. Visit your website again to confirm that the correct homepage is displayed.

Edit Pages in WordPress

After installation, you can edit your Nicepage pages directly in WordPress. Go to Pages, open the page you want to modify (such as Home), and click Edit with Nicepage. The Nicepage Editor lets you edit the page visually with the same drag-and-drop approach used in the desktop application or Online Builder, and you can save your changes directly to the WordPress website.
