Why would anyone need a site?
Firstly, even if you are not just selling a product, you are selling yourself. In the digital age, your online presence is your brand. A site is a great representation.
Secondly, unlike your social media account, a site showcases your experience, portfolio, and professional story much much better.
Finally, a site helps you to be memorable, highlighting your creativity, professionalism, and skills beyond what a résumé or LinkedIn can.
Ways To Build A Site
Generally, there are two ways to build a website: writing code, which requires much time, knowledge, and experience, and using a website builder, which is quick and easy, requires no coding, and is just fun.
Hosting Types
Any site needs hosting, a service that stores and delivers its pages, making them accessible to users online. There are two hosting types: regular hosting and all-in-one website platforms hosting their sites.
The first type is regular hosting, such as from Bluehost, Hostgator, Ionos, or Hostinger, which allows you to build and host a website using HTML, CSS, PHP, or any other code. It gives you flexibility but requires knowledge to manage technical aspects like server configuration and security.
Website Builders With Hosting
The second type is all-in-one website platforms, which offer hosting as a bonus to the website builder. However, their hosting does not support HTML, CSS, PHP, etc. files.
The best part is that you get a live site and don't need to worry about maintaining hosting, technical complexities, or security, allowing you to focus on your site content and design.
Indeed, we will not discuss site coding and hosting settings. Instead, we will use a website builder with hosting, such as Nicepage, which is an easy start for your first or new website.
Run Nicepage
You can download the Nicepage App from nicepage.com. Or you can run the Online Builder. We will continue with the app, as all your work is saved locally, which is convenient for managing, sharing, and backing up.
Create a New Site
Run Nicepage. On the dashboard, create a new site. You can start from scratch, use AI, Wireframes, or designer-made site templates.
We will choose this design.
Design Sets
The site consists of pages. When you choose a design, it opens a design set. This set allows you to see the page design and content that will already be on your new site.
Below, you can also see blocks, which you can add to your site pages if needed. Click the Create Site button to create a site.
That’s it! You already have a site with pages you can export and upload to any hosting.
Publish Your Site
Nicepage makes it even simpler. Like many popular website builder systems, it provides hosting for your site.
Click the Publish button at the top. The Nicepage Hosting is selected by default, and you can also export the same site to HTML, WordPress, or Joomla and share it as an Image or a Project zip.
Click the Publish to Nicepage Button. After publishing, click the link to your new live site in the dialog.
Rename Your Site
Your site’s web address can be more visitor-friendly. Return to Nicepage and click the Publish button. Click the Configure button, edit the Website Address, click ok, and then Publish to Nicepage again. You can open your site using the name you entered in the Publish dialog.
Assign A Custom Domain
If you want a unique name or domain for your site, you can buy it from popular services like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Domain.com, etc., and assign it to your site in Nicepage.
Return to Nicepage and reopen the Publish and Export dialog. Please note that Nicepage does not sell domains. You should change your DNS settings on the Domain Panel so they are set for the Nicepage Network. Click the Connect Button and enter your domain name.
Check the connection. If you set your name correctly, you can open your site using the specified domain name in a browser. However, it may take some time for the settings to propagate. There is no need to republish your site.
