Blog post metadata shows current date, not published date

Report a bug

In a joomla page, using the Blog post element and inserting the Date metadata always displays the current date (ie the date the page is viewed) and not the Created date or the Start publishing date or the Modified date. This makes the date metadata useless.

Not really, I have a live site and I have added the new template and have created a hidden page (which I can view temporarily with a ?template=np2 parameter) that will eventually become the new home page, but I've not finished the design yet, so can't make it live.

Also, the site contains membership data that is covered by GDPR. I could create an admin login that doesn't have access to that data but I'd need to spend some time remembering how to do that!

Can I give you screenshots or other information instead?

First screenshot shows the page in the Nicepage extension in joomla. This shows the dates of the three posts in the News category as today's date (28 September).

The second screenshot shows this in the published page, again all with the incorrect date.

The third screenshot shows the publishing tab of the middle post, showing the publishing/modified dates in the joomla backend as 27 August. The other posts are similar.

The current page (using the current Artisteer template) can be seen live here: https://www.healthwatch-uk.org/news/208-agex-ends.html This also shows the published date as 27 August.

So, the dates in joomla are correct, but the Nicepage extension is picking up today's date instead of the article's published or modified dates.

It is on a live site. I have not finished the design yet so it's not the default template, but the screenshots show the page on the live site with the Nicepage template using the ?template=<tempalte name> parameter on the url to force it to use the new template.

I have similar problems

There are serveral things not working as they should be.
When i open a old blog post in admin section of Joomla, Nicepage put that old post back on top of the blog page.
It is using the modify date instead of the creation date to sort the blog posts.

When i add a blog item and set the publish date in the future, nicepage shows this blog as of today and not after the set future date.

There is no pagination.

Can you fix this as well, thank you.

I have only just got back on to this and I now have a separate cloned website where I can finalise the template and pages before using on the main live site. I have just checked and the blog posts still show today's date and not the date the articles were published. It also does not show the category although it does in the editor. See attached screenshot.

The bug still seems to be there.

Hello Alan,

For the Joomla Category blog page, the order of the posts depends on the settings specified for the Menu Item.
Blog Posts element in the Nicepage page will display the most recent post as of date updated (modified).
Unfortunately, the Nicepage Blog Posts element does not provide sorting settings. Therefore the order of posts in the Blog Posts element on Nicepage page cannot be changed.

Please specify where the screenshot of the category was taken? Preview of the blog posts in the desktop will show the Category, same with Joomla, there would be Category of the article specified.

The previous screenshot was taken from the (live) joomla demo site I am working on so it is as would be seen by visitors.

I have the News menu item as a category blog layout (News) and ordered by publication date - see attached screenshot. But the problem is on the home page of the website (where I want to show recent News articles), not the News blog page, and there is no similar article order setting for the home page itself. Where does the blog post element pick up its order and date settings from?

Paul C of Nicepage tech support was able to resolve this by enabling System, Global configuration, Articles, Show Publish Date. This ensures globally that the published date is shown (unless modified by individual blog layout settings on a menu item).

There are other settings there that may need to be enabled such as Show category if you want the category name to be displayed in the blog post element.

Hello Alan,

You can only edit blog layout for Category Blog Menu Item via Joomla settings. Category Blog Menu Item is using your Theme Blog Template to output articles.
If you add Blog posts element to the Nicepage page( Home for example) and it will be a Single article as Menu Item type - your blog posts element will show your recent posts by modified date, newest articles will be the first (date of the article from your list in Joomla) or by category, if you point to the exact category from the right property panel, like here:

Let us know if you have any other questions. We will gladly help you.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I have the same problem/request. It is important to be able to show articles sorted by publication date and not by modified date: is there a way to have this option?

I think they are sorted by publication date - or do you see them ordered by modified date?

What are your settings in System, Global Configuration, Articles for these options?

Show Create Date
Show Modify Date
Show Publish Date

What is the status of this problem ? I have tried all different settings with Create Date, Modify Date and Publish Date and it only sort on modified date.

Is this going to be solved any time ?

I have a live site and I have added the new template and have created a hidden page (which I can view temporarily with a ?template=np2 parameter) that will eventually become the new home page, but I've not finished the design yet, so can't make it live.
