Blog post metadata shows current date, not published date

In a joomla page, using the Blog post element and inserting the Date metadata always displays the current date (ie the date the page is viewed) and not the Created date or the Start publishing date or the Modified date. This makes the date metadata useless.

I think they are sorted by publication date - or do you see them ordered by modified date?

Menu item Category Blog cam be managed in Joomla to be sorted by published date.
Nicepage page with Blog posts element will display the most recent articles by modified date with no option to be edited for now.
