Failed to send request - HTTP status - 403 when I tried to save a change

Ask a Question

I am using version 2.1.0 of the WordPress plugin on a WP 5.3 install. Today I tried to save a change to a page, same as I have done 100 times before, however, now I am getting message "Failed to send request: "https://myhiddendomainname.c om/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=np_save_page" HTTP status - 403. Error - Failed to send a request.

I have tried several things such as using another page, clearing cache, deactavation/reactivating as well and uninstalling/re-installing the plugin, however, nothing has worked.

What I did next was create a new sub-domain and install a fresh WP and activated the nicepage plugin. I then created a new page added a block and successfully saved the page.

So the HTTP status - 403 is connected with using the plugin on an existing WP install, using it on a new WP install does not cause an issue. You should be able to recreate the issue and provide answers

Thanks

Lee

Same issue and I really do not want to reinstall a large site with e-commerce. My issue is that the header image/logo is missing and I have to Edit the WP Page in Nicepage and for Page Template select 'Theme Template' for the header/logo to display. I have to do this in WP, not locally, so at the moment my client's website is missing the header/logo because I can't save the change. We have paid ads running for the site now and this appears very unprofessional.

I am now beginning to regret upgrading to Nicepage Ultimate. You guys seem to fix a few things but break something new on every update. Maybe take some time to test the updates before you release it. We are fed up with this sequence of events.

Hi all,

The issue is probably caused by some security settings on the server or other server limitations. Please create the private topics with the backend access to your site so we could check. Also you can contact your hosting provider so they could check if anything is blocking Nicepage requests.

I am afraid your reply does not make sense!! Did you see the bit where I said I created a sub-domain and installed WP and that is working perfectly - that means the server working perfectly otherwise the sub-domain install would be giving same error and it is not!
Also note the older version of the plugin worked perfectly up until I performed the update and tried to save the page.
You should also look at this thread https://nicepage.com/questions/54821/failed-to-send-request-http-status-403-a-found-a-solution
and also this thread https://nicepage.com/questions/54524/godaddy-error-failed-to-send-request

I have save page working with the latest version after following these steps.
I uninstall the latest version and went back to a previous version
then I deactivated all plugins
I tried to save a page and this was successful
I updated the plugin to the latest version, then tried to save a page this was also successful.
I reactivated all my plugins and tried to save a page, this was successful.

Not entire sure if it was going back to the previous version that did the trick or whether it was deactivating all plugins, but it is now working!

Thank you! I did not want to mess with the live site with our ads running.

So it's the latest version that is the problem. Not the server. I see another person on a GoDaddy server posted the same issue. Want to take care of this quickly before you have more frustrated folks posting? I know mistakes occur, we fix one thing and 3 others break when we are programming. Please just take care of this issue quickly. Thanks.

Hi,

I've had the same problem and followed Lee's instructions. Deactivated all PlugIns and upgraded NicePage PlugIn to version 2.1.0. Then activated all PlugIns one by one and discovered the Wordfence Security Firewall setting 'Web Application Firewall Status' was blocking something and caused the 403 error! I selected the learning mode and saved the setting, made a change in a NicePage-page and saved it. After that I selected the basic 'Enabled and Protecting-setting', saved this setting and tried to make a change in the NicePage-page and the problem was solved!

Hope to help someone with this!

Please let me know if the above steps works for you

Lee

I deactivated and deleted the Nicepage plugin. Then I uploaded the last theme that worked, that initiated an install of the older pre-packaged Nicepage plugin and presto! It works. Thank you, Lee!

It's the latest Nicepage plugin update that is returning the 403 error, not our server settings.

EDIT: I have Wordfence too, it wasn't the issue on my site.

Hi,

We are sorry for the issue and nice to hear that all is fine now. I want to note that WordFence is also causing such issues recently, so the solution to switch it to the learning mode may be helpful.
Please let us know if you have such issues with the next update.

It was/is not WordFence, it is the Nicepage plugin. Please fix the plugin. I have not performed the update on other sites because I don't want to mess with them until this issue is fixed.

Please fix the issue instead of blaming it on other things like the server or WordFence. Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately we cannot say what was the issue on your site without investigating the problem. If you have the site working fine now, then we cannot say for sure that the issue was caused by some new updates. If you have the test site where we could see the problem and check for the solution, then please provide an access to it.

Just to update this...

I was experiencing the same '403' error issue and turned on the 'Learning Mode' option in Wordfence and I was able to save the changes that I was making in Nicepage thereafter.
