Ask a Question

Is anyone here using GoDaddy Linux Hosting with cPanel? I've had a problem on several websites I've created with Nicepage that have started giving me an error message when I add an HTML or Shortcode element into a page. The error is

Failed to send request: "http://www.mydomainname/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=np_save_page" HTTP status - 403. Error - Failed to send a request.

Hi Marti,

Please ask your hosting provider to check the security settings on the server. Looks like it is blocking requests with the html code.

Hi
have you recently upgraded to the latest version of the plugin?
Did you have the same issue with the previous version?

Everything is up to date. I have a ticket in with support on this. I was just wanting to see if any one else used GoDaddy for hosting and if they were having the same problem.

I working with a Joomla site on a GoDaddy shared hosting account and when I am trying to import a template (created with latest version of Nicepage and Joomla site is up to date 2.16.2) I am getting the "Request failed: 403" when I try to import the template. Did you figure out what was going on? I am waiting for GoDaddy to call me back right now... Template uploads fine, it is just when I try to import it.

When I had the problem I called GoDaddy support. The gentleman I talked to didn't see anything in the error logs but he did up the execution time and memory limit. He said these will take a while to change. He suggested that I deactivate all other plugins except Nicepage which I did and it didn't make a difference. He also said that there may be a php extension that needs to be turned on. I'm attaching a word doc with my php settings. He also asked if there was a way to test admin-ajax.php to see if it was working correctly. None of that helped. Nicepage asked me to ask GoDaddy if ModSecurity Apache module was installed and to ask them to deactivate it.

Here's more info I got from GoDaddy - Called GoDaddy & got my call passed up to an engineer who was willing to dig into the problem. ModSecurity is on but since I'm using shared hosting there's no way to turn it off. However, I gave him my IP address and he checked the modsec logs to see if a request from my ip address triggered the error in modsec. It took a while but he found that it did. He and another engineer found that there is a request being made in the directory fckeditor for a file that ends in .asp instead of .php. Hope this helps.

Also, I checked the 5 other sites I've designed using Nicepage and got mixed results as to whether they worked or not. The problem is with both html & shortcode elements. Plus on some sites if I go into theme settings I get a similar error message. On this one I changed the hyperlink to bold then saved- https://prnt.sc/q5slh8. On some of my 5 sites it wont save HTML/Shortcode elements. On some sites it will save if I put it on a page created before this problem started but not on a new page. On one site it works on old or new pages but doesn't work for saving theme settings.

I reported that back to Nicepage and they finally fixed it. The ID on my question was 52008 - they should be able to look that up for you to see if it's the same problem.

Hi,

The 403 error is indicating that the access is forbidden to some resources on the server side. As mentioned above I will also suggest you to ask GoDaddy to check the ModSecurity settings as usually they are blocking Nicepage requests.

My server provider said the following:

The modsec, was the first thing I checked on my end as well. However, I suspect I was able to find the error.

It does appear that when you attempt to save the theme/plugin is opening a lot of MySQL connections at once more than that can be done on our shared servers:

[14-Sep-2023 11:36:04 UTC] PHP Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1203): User vdscsvzjfh_15 already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /usr/www/users/vdscsvzjfh/greenhaven.vdscstaging.co.za/wp-includes/class-wpdb.php on line 2035

He didn't say how I can stop this from happening though.

Hi,

As they say, the server cannot handle the requests from Nicepage, we recommend you to contact your hosting provider once again and ask them to increase this limit.
