How to restrict block height and avoid constant block resizing?

Ask a Question

Maybe this is a duplicate of some other question, but for me, it is becoming quite an issue.
When I’m jumping between devices(different screen sizes) and adding and removing stuff, the block (which I'm editing) on other devices(screen sizes) is often (CONSTANTLY!) getting enlarged, so I need to constantly adjust the height of the block and constantly check if the size is right on all screen sizes. Is there maybe a way to lock block height or somehow avoid that constant block resizing? I understand it is on purpose because sometimes elements are bigger than block height etc. but it is really annoying. I would be much happier if the block would stay the same and adjust elements if they stick out. Any hint much appreciated.

The standard that's recommended is to work from desktop/left to right/mobile.
When a device is changed, it's NOT supposed to change anything left of the one you're on.
It doesn't always happen that way unfortunately, and sometimes you need to press the Reset on the block and make the adjustments again.
If there was a way to save and lock a page before moving on I think it would be helpful, and this was discussed in the past.

Thanks, actually it is happening constantly, at least in my case. Makes me nervous, because I need to "repair" height all the time...
For example, just moving or resizing an image on one screen size is moving that image on many screens (sometimes in a totally unexpected position), then block height is changed on various screen sizes, so after simple edit, I need to do many edits on various screen sizes. Wouldn't be more simple if elements/blocks could be locked in position and size?

Not just blocks.
It would be helpful if there was a switch to lock the entire page.

Exactly, when I edit a page on one screen size, please leave my page on other screen sizes as it is. If I add an element on one screen size, add it on other screen sizes (just put it somewhere), but please leave everything else as it is. If I change the size/position of one element on one screen size, please leave it on other screen sizes as it is. And PLEASE DON'T CHANGE HEIGHT OF BLOCKS on the screen sizes, which I'm not currently editing. I will change the height of the block if/when I want. I'm willing to click the button LOCK/UNLOCK on any element, block, page... Make it grayed out or not, make all properties grayed out, but before I want to change something, PLEASE DON'T DO IT FOR ME.

@rafafah795 Just the opposite... In another builder, there is no editing at all, just configuration. Editing of layer-based, free-positioned elements on the webpage is a hell of a job, that's where Nicepage shines. I'm just pointing out the problems because every software can be better, right?

If you say so... for dropping pre-made templates on a page this is probably not needed, so be in peace...

This kind of thing is happening a lot less than it used to, but there are still occasions when things are getting messed up. I check every size automatically now and adjust the bottom margins to how I want them and save every size then re-check to make sure the previous size is still as it should be. I'm finding that 95% of the time, things are no longer getting messed up as they used to. But I agree, a page lock for specific sizes might be a good idea.

Yes. I think it would make a lot of sense and save a lot of work if it was an option to lock width and height. Then I dont have to go in and clean up the mess and "Reset changes for this block".

Newbie here. Well, to nicepage anyway. Loving it nearly! Issue is as above but it looks like the new 'lock element' works well. So, once I'm happy with a view in a certain screen size, I lock the elements and they stay locked for that screen size. I'm happier to go through locking each individual block/element in the knowledge that they'll stay locked than the constantly disappointing, almost 'holding of breath' after tweaking one size then switching to another - done much editing here and you'll know what I mean, I'm sure...I almost whoop with delight when changing a page in tablet, to see it hasn't affected mobile! And the opposite when realising it has - because then you get into a seesaw of fix/check/fix/check/fix/check...so locking elements is a Good Thing. Thanks.

Recent blog post from nicepage tells (a little) more... 'Lock Elements In Editor. You can now lock the Layer in the Outline'. It works well, but expand your words here please nicepage. Explain the issue more thoroughly and the solution and everyone then knows immed what those little icons are for. Guess it's obvious, but nice to be reassured that when editing a block containing some text and an image in mobile view, if you 'lock' them, they stay locked. Fab. Just explain it better pls. The reason I'm here is because I 'hoped' this is what the lock icon did, without trying it first, because I didn't want to bork my site. Shouldn't be that way really eh...

And better still would be a great big lock/unlock toggler on each screen size for each page. For the entire page, not just block or element. To be able to use one click to lock an entire page in mobile, then knowing it won't change at all until we unlock it to edit, awesomes! I can freely mess about with stuff.

Anyway, we're talking about a pub in sunny England...hingemakers.pub (loving the TLD! Suits us Brits no end)

Support for "responsive" modes is simply awful. I too have to CONSTANTLY go back and readjust block heights. Move an element 1 pixel and you had better go back and check EVERY screen size. What a nightmare.

Cody,

Please create a private case, providing the project and a screenshot showing the issue.

IMPORTANT! We always insist that you read the Basic Tips to build responsive sites, as in most cases alignment and improper use of grids and boxes are the keys to many issues.
