Ask a Question

Hi
I am trying to see where my site is saved on my Mac. What is the best way if I work on two Macs on the same site?
I was doing this yesterday but I think I changed the location and now the site has disappeared of one of the Macs.
Please HELP!
Thanks
Lauren

Hi Lauren,

You can check the folder location under the Profile >> Preferences >> Projects Folder.

Hi
I tried o import it from the app from this folder but I get an error message.
Otherwise how is one meant to IMPORT a project? I looked for the site.json under the All Files on my Mac and it didn't work.
I have created a new folder for all Nicepage projects on my Creative clouds so 2 computers can share it now. I see the files but unable to open the one site on one of my Macs. It is not listed in my SITES in Nicepage. WHY?

I managed to find it.

I had to first see where NICEPAGE was saving a brand new site and re add manually it to that same place. It then showed up! Thank goodness! But it creates a very long file doc path when I began a new site. It seems to be creating the path from /users/
Why is that?
Please see attached screen. And this was the only way my site and the test site would show in the app.

Thanks
Lauren

Lauren,

When exporting a project you can select its path.

Tnx. That is good to know. So then it doesn't have to be exported to the Documents folder in other words. Or is it preferable?

Hi Lauren,

The Projects folder ( Profile >> Preferences >> Projects Folder) option defines the folder where Nicepage saves Nicepage Projects. These are projects that you edit in the Desktop application. The Nicepage Project is not the same as the exported website. These Nicepage Projects are in a specific format. You can change the Projects Folder. But please be careful with it.

The Export Path is not mattered. It can be any folder where Nicepage can export the website. But the Export Path and Projects folder should not match.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Olivia

Thanks for explaining. I understand. What I was referring to specifically was about the matter of exporting it as a Project (not the HTML files which I do change to a client's specific folder).

Is it better to always export the Project archive to the same place being the Documents folder? I did have a situation where I lost a site and had to find it again because I changed the destination so I am being very careful now.

Hi Lauren,

You can export the project in any desired destination, just remember where it is saved. The Documents folder that is specified as the Projects folder in the preferences is the location for the internal projects of your desktop application. Your situation looks like the destination folder in the preferences has changed or you accidentally deleted the projects.

If it has changed should I rectify it and if so how without losing my website project? I would like it to be correct.

Hi Lauren,

It may has changed when reinstalling the application. In any case just try to remember the exact pass to your folder with the projects so you could change it if needed.
