what is the best way to update content from the desktop version for joomla?

I don't see that screen but maybe I am missing a step. When I make changes on the desktop application and then I export do I name it the same? Do I select theme and content? Then in joomla I install the new zip file?

Sorry, I have missed that you are using Joomla. In Joomla the new theme content does not override the old one. To replace the content you need to install the new theme with the same name as the initial theme with the content you want to replace.

What if I do not want to replace the theme? I only want to replace the content.

You can export the content only. And then import the content using Nicepage >> Import option and enabled "Replace..." option. In this case, Nicepage plugin will override the content installed through the plugin last time. Why don't you want to edit the content through the Joomla plugin directly?
