Does it mean that Nicepage plugin must be present in each website in order for all the created layouts to work?
Artisteer creates themes that can work in Wordpress websites that do not contain the Artisteer software.

Can Nicepage save and export as a Wordpress theme just like Artisteer?
Yes, please try Nicepage Desktop available here:
https://nicepage.com/download
Nicepage Desktop demo allows exporting created website as WP and Joomla theme and/or content and you can then import the exported files on your CMS for testing.

Nicepage plugin is a content builder plugin. Unfortunately, Nicepage content cannot work ok without Nicepage plugin installed. This is a typical situation for content builder plugins.
Artisteer does not provide a content builder for your website. As the result, there is no plugin.

Olivia ... your answer has to start with NO, not Yes, based on what you say. Artisteer exported a theme where pages could be created and edited using the WordPress editors – I've been using both Gutenberg and the Classic Editor.
However, with a NicePage site, you must have the NicePage plug-in present for the site to look as intended, and use the NicePage editor to modify the content. So, if the plug-in is incompatible with other aspects of the WordPress installation, or doesn't keep up with changes in WordPress or PHP, you are screwed!
Other sites I've inherited were created using WPBakery, but don't demand WPBakery simply to edit content, and I haven't had to upgrade the version of the plug-in that was initially supplied with the theme, though that was years ago.
Not a happy bunny ... NicePage looks great, but doesn't work. Bring back the way that Artisteer exported a standalone theme! Or at least make sure that NicePage plug-in is only required when the page design is being altered.

You can create a theme for WP and add content the Wordpress way. Just like with Artisteer. No problem.
Only if you wish to add/import content with Nicepage you'll need the plugin.
Hi,
You should note that Artisteer and Nicepage are producing really different content. The Artisteer content is quite simple, outdated and does not contain shortcodes and so on. So it can be edited by any editor as it is simple. But Nicepage allows you to create modern unique content that was not possible to imagine with Artisteer. For that you need to have the Nicepage plug-in to process the content on the site. That is how the editor plug-in works and that is a common practice.
So, if the plug-in is incompatible with other aspects of the WordPress installation, or doesn't keep up with changes in WordPress or PHP, you are screwed!
In case you have issues with Nicepage plug-in and some WP functionality, please create a separate case for the problem and explain in details what is not working.
Bring back the way that Artisteer exported a standalone theme!
Nicepage desktop application allows exporting the Theme only. That will include the header, footer and Blog and Post templates for the site. It will be the theme only with no need to use the plug-in.

I know this is an old post - I just created a post re nicepage theme with nicepage content vs nicepage theme with visual composer content and no wordpress just nicepage HTML exported page etc.
Ever since Artisteer is not around - I have been creating a similar looking theme in Nicepage - and just installing the theme whilst I continue to use Visual Composer (WP Bakery) for all my content.
Slowly I have been using the nicepage plugin to add content on new sites , I really dont want to re create all the content again converting visual composer to nicepage - as it needs to be created from scratch.
HTML sites are the fastest , obviously WP adds some lag. From my persepctive using Nicepage for theme and Visual Composer for content - gives a nice mix.
Nicepage content looks better - but it has it's issues as I have detailed in my post - https://nicepage.com/questions/244574/page-insights-speed-wordpress-tips-what-about-you
