Reinstalling Nicepage

Ask a Question

I've just had to replace the hard drive on my PC and reinstall Windows and Nicepage. In Preferences, Project Folder, I've set it to what I had set it to previously but the existing projects don't appear in the My Sites list in Nicepage.

How can I get them back on the list?

I really wish Nicepage would act like other Windows programs (and as Artisteer did) and simply open project files from wherever they have been saved - and with filenames we can give them. The way it is implemented is awkward and far from user friendly.

Hi,

Nicepage Desktop application saves the projects in the /Documents/Nicepage folder. This is the default location that can be changed under the Profile >> Preferences.
Do you have a backup copy of this folder?

Yes. I have restored them to the same place they were previously. I had changed the location from the default - I hadn't really understood how and where Nicepage stored the files at that time - but now setting that in Preferences gives me an error 'Directory not empty. Retry attempt?' and I can't get past that.

Can I move the files somewhere else so Nicepage sees an empty directory then copy them back in? Or import them in as new projects?

Hi Alan,

Yes, you cannot use the directory which is not empty even if it contains old projects. You can either use the different or old directory and copy websites from the backup to the currently used folder.

Is it just a straightforward directory copy or do I need to import them as projects?

Hi Alan,

You can use both options. You can copy the folders or import the exported projects, that will create new site folders.
