The owner of the image rights states that they have not granted you permission to reproduce the image; for this reason, we ask that you provide clarification regarding how you obtained the image and/or whether you possess the necessary rights to justify your reproduction.
Your reproduction may have been lawful
- based on a valid title (consent, purchase of a license from authorized third parties), which we ask you to show us, or:
- based on one of the exceptions permitted by law for the publication of others’ images without consent. If you believe that your reproduction falls under one of the exceptions listed below, please state and document this:
a. News value or journalistic reporting, in compliance with legal requirements and including attribution to the rights holder and payment of the required fair compensation;
b. Use of low-resolution images for illustrative purposes in educational or scientific research, provided that proper attribution is given and the rights holder’s economic rights are respected;
c. Use for the purposes of citation, criticism, or discussion;
d. Private and personal use with no connection to the promotion of products or services;
e. Use for parody purposes;
f. Specific exceptions provided for libraries, public institutions, and government agencies.
