Hello Kanotec,

Thank you for providing the server details.

We can see that the site is using Nicepage extension version 4.3.0, which is quite outdated. Could you please let us know if there is a specific reason for using this version?

Also, can you confirm whether the site is using the Nicepage theme, or a different Joomla template? If you use the Nicepage theme, let us know the version.

To help us investigate the 500 error and pass the case to our developers if needed, could you also please let us know:

when the error started appearing

whether it occurs on all pages or only specific ones

Once we have this information, we can check whether the issue is already known or needs further investigation.

Hi, Denis

Thank you for contacting us.

Joomla team ended the support of Joomla 3 on February 2023.
Please refer to this article: https://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5894-joomla-is-18-and-extended-security-support-for-joomla-3.html.

As Joomla 3 is now deprecated by its developers, we have ended the support of the Nicepage extension for Joomla 3 as well.
This is where you can find this announcement: https://nicepage.com/doc/625508/joomla-6-is-now-supported.

Therefore, we strongly recommend upgrading your website to Joomla 5 or 6 (or at least 4) to get further support for the Nicepage extension and get updates from Joomla, Nicepage, and other extensions.
If the saving error still appears after upgrading, we will do our best to resolve it.

Meanwhile, try to install the v.7.15.4 using this https://get.nicepage.com/joomla_nicepage_plugin-7.15.4.zip link.

Hello Kanotec,

Please update your Joomla version to at least 4 or 5, and install the new Nicepage extension version. Your current license plan covers the update.

In case of any issues, please create a new private ticket to get further support.

Hello Nicepage Team,

I've also opened a ticket for this. And I received your notification about the publication. But honestly, wouldn't it be more collaborative to announce something like this with some advance notice?

Simply shutting down the service on December 17th is apparently confusing more than just me.

We have clients who depend on their websites for their livelihood. As a service provider, we're suddenly left high and dry, having to explain to them that we can no longer work on their sites. It doesn't matter how many times I've told my clients they need to migrate to newer versions. I'm currently, on December 23rd, busy migrating the most important pages.

And let's be honest: How are clients supposed to understand that three-year-old websites can no longer be edited? For many websites, it wasn't even possible to export higher PHP versions as a website (I believe this was the case until April 2022).

A transition period would have been the only fair thing to do. Not just shutting it down.
... My problem is that we no longer have the project file for the very first websites, as the employee who created them no longer works for us and didn't save it on the server. Is there any documentation on how to best recreate the project file? Perhaps WITHOUT rebuilding the entire site locally (using exported blocks)?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how disruptive this situation is, especially when client websites and ongoing work are involved.

Nicepage support for Joomla 3 has officially reached its end of life. While existing Joomla 3 sites may continue to work, we no longer maintain or update the integration, and new fixes or improvements are not planned for that platform. For this reason, issues related to editing or compatibility on Joomla 3 cannot be investigated or resolved by our development team.

If the original project file is no longer available, the only supported way to recreate the project is by creating a new project locally and rebuilding the pages manually (for example, by reusing exported blocks). You can export header/footer blocks to recreate the theme file first. Content like pages can be saved by a backup plugin.

We understand that a longer transition period would have been helpful, and we appreciate your feedback on this.

Sincerely,
Anna.

I have the same problem and I wrote this message to support:
I understand that the program may be out of date; in fact, I haven't asked you for any changes; I just want it to work as it always has. At this point, I don't understand how your program works. If it's installed on my website, in my web space, and in my database, why does it have to go through your servers if I make changes? I'm still paying for the license, and I want the program, even if it's outdated, to work. I'm not asking for technical support for a problem; I just want it to work as it always has.
I saw that this is a problem for other customers of yours too, what you are doing doesn't seem right to me

I think this issue is causing problems for many NicePage customers. I hope they fix it.
I repeat, I don't want any changes or technical support. I just want it to work as it has until now.

Hello,,

Thank you for explaining your situation in detail.
Some sites may continue to work on the frontend, but editing and publishing depend on Nicepage online services, which are only maintained for supported Joomla versions. As these services change, older integrations like Joomla 3 can stop working even if nothing has changed on your server.

Unfortunately, we can’t restore or guarantee editing functionality on Joomla 3.
You can restore your pages before making changes, reinstall the theme, or update the plugin version to version 6. However, to continue working reliably, the site needs to be migrated to a supported Joomla version and a compatible Nicepage version.

Which version of Joomla (minimal) and which version of the plugin (minimal) will not cause an error^

Hello,

The supported combinations are Joomla 4, 5, or 6 >> use the latest Nicepage extension

If your free updates period has expired, you can use Joomla 4 or 5 >> Nicepage extension versions 7.7 – 7.15(the most recent to the updates end date)

We currently provide one installation package for Joomla 4–6, and these versions are fully compatible with supported Nicepage releases.

Hello Kanotec,

Upgrading from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, 5, or 6 is free. Joomla itself does not charge for upgrades. The same applies to Nicepage: you can install a compatible Nicepage version under your existing license, and there is no additional license cost just to migrate.
Although the Nicepage extension is installed locally, it relies on Nicepage online services for functions such as authorization, project processing, and export. This architecture allows consistent rendering and publishing, but it also means that continued functionality is guaranteed only for supported CMS versions. Older platforms like Joomla 3 are no longer compatible with these services.

This means there is no way to keep editing Joomla 3 sites, even temporarily. The only supported solution is to migrate the site to a newer Joomla version, which ensures you can continue maintaining the site reliably going forward.

Hello Kanotec,

Thank you for sharing.

Even for small content changes, Nicepage relies on its online services for editing and publishing. This is how Nicepage processes layouts, styles, and exports consistently across platforms. Because of this architecture, continued editing is only guaranteed for supported Joomla versions. Once Joomla 3 reached end of life, compatibility with these services could no longer be maintained.

Please reach out if you need any assistance or have further questions.
