Ask a Question

After updating to the latest plugin. I exported a new template and plug in to one of my websites. If I export it to html, I can see the site setting items I have included such as seo, google analytics, google tag manager, receptada and additional html. But my site runs in wordpress. When I go to site settings in wordpress after loading plugin and new template and loggin in with my main account, site settings are missing all the information that should be there. If I go to View Source, items are not loading etc. I think something broke in the last update. I need those items loading.

Hello Gustavo,

Thank you for contacting us!

At this point, it’s not fully clear what exactly was exported and installed. To proceed correctly, we need to understand:

What was exported from Nicepage:

  • full site (theme + content), or
  • theme only (without content)

What actions were performed in WordPress:

  • whether the Nicepage plugin was installed first
  • whether the theme was installed afterward
  • whether any content import was performed

What was the initial state of the site:

  • Was this a new WordPress installation or an existing site
  • Were Site Settings (SEO, Analytics, Tag Manager, Additional HTML) configured before export

If you exported only the theme and installed it without content, then Site Settings data would not be imported into the plugin, which could explain the empty fields.

We look forward to your response so we can proceed with the investigation.

Sincerely,
George.

I still have this problem, sorry. Basically I exported both the plugin and the template and installed them separately. I do not replace items or pages because the original website was all designed on the nicepage desktop for windows app. Here is the answer to your questions. By the way my temporary fix was to fill all the items in the site settings on the wordpress side manually. But they should come over when I update the plug in and then the theme.

What was exported from Nicepage:
The theme and the plugin. Don't remember which first. What should it be?

whether any content import was performed
I don't import content because the wordpress site has hundreds of changes and pages.

What was the initial state of the site:
Nice page/wordpress site that's been live for a few years.

Were Site Settings (SEO, Analytics, Tag Manager, Additional HTML) configured before export
Yes.

Hello Gustavo,

Thank you for your message.

To clarify how this works in Nicepage:

Site Settings (SEO, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Additional HTML) are stored inside the Nicepage plugin, not in the theme.
Because of this, installing or updating a theme does not affect these settings.

These settings are transferred automatically only when a full content import is performed using the import wizard (pages, content, and settings together).
If content import is skipped, Site Settings are not applied automatically.

Updating or reinstalling the plugin alone does not restore Site Settings, even if they were previously configured in the Nicepage desktop app.

Since your WordPress site already contains many custom pages and changes, the correct and expected approach is to configure the Site Settings manually in the Nicepage plugin.

This behavior is expected and does not indicate an issue with the plugin or installation.

I agree. That makes total sense. Final question, should I be updating the plugin from wordpress, but also importing a new template from the desktop app, every time I upgrade the plug in?. I notice some apps start saying my template is outdated.

Hello Gustavo,

If you are referring to the message:

“The active theme has a version lower than the plugin version. Please update the theme too.”

We would like to clarify that this is not an error message, but only a warning indicating that the currently active theme version is lower than the installed plugin version.

Nicepage is continuously improved, and some updates may include significant changes. For this reason, we recommend updating the theme from time to time, especially to benefit from the latest improvements and compatibility updates.

However, this warning does not require re-importing a template every time the plugin is updated, and it does not indicate any malfunction or issue. Exceptions are cases when the theme and plugin have very different versions. Therefore, we recommend updting theme with the plugin.

George.

And the only way to update the theme is to export it from the Nicepage application on the computer correct?
