Ask a Question

I tried to do the version 8.0.3 plugin update and get the message "Update failed: Download failed. cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate"

I'm attaching screen captures of the messages. My SSL cert is current.

Thanks

Hello Marti,

Thank you for the details and for sending the screenshots.

The message

“Update failed: Download failed. cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate”

usually indicates an SSL configuration issue on the hosting server (cURL cannot verify the SSL certificate chain), rather than a problem with the Nicepage plugin itself.

To better understand what is happening, could you please let us know:

  1. What exactly you did right before the error appeared? For example: clicked “Update” only for Nicepage, or updated WordPress / other plugins / PHP version just before this started?
  2. Have you recently changed anything on your hosting (SSL certificate renewal, moved to a new server, installed a firewall/security plugin, etc.)?

In the meantime, please also contact your hosting provider’s support and share this full error message with them.

Please send us the answers to the questions above and let us know what your hosting provider says, so we can help you further if needed.

The topic was moved to private.

Sincerely,
George.

clicked “Update” only for Nicepage was the first thing I did after logging in to the site.

nothing has changed on the hosting or SSL cert. I tried it on another site that uses the SSL from GoDaddy and it worked fine.

I tried other browsers including Chrome in incognito mode

And now for the big surprise - when I just logged in to the site I found that Nicepage plugin was upgraded to 8.0.3 - exactly what I was trying to do the other day. So I guess everything is ok now.

Thanks!
