Trying to understand the various export and import functions in WordPress...
In Nicepage for Desktop, the following export options are available:
Theme
Theme Colors and Typography, Header with Menu Style, Footer, Blog and Post TemplatesPages and Editor
Plugin Pages with Text and Images, Menu Items. You can continue edit in Wordpress and Joomlainclude Nicepage Project
You can import Project file back to Nicepage later. This will double theme size
I think I understand the basic idea here: the first exports just the theme (usually as a zip file), the second is just the pages, etc and the third includes the Nicepage project although I'm not sure why this might be useful - can pages be changed in the plugin then imported back into Desktop?
In the WordPress install, I can go to Appearance, Themes and upload the zip file. This will install the theme if it's in the zip file and I'll be given the opportunity to import the content that I created in Desktop if that's been included.
However, there is also the Nicepage, Import function that says:
Upload your (.zip) file and we’ll import the pages and images into this site.
Is this different to importing the zip file through Appearance, Themes (assuming the pages have been included in the zip file)?
I'm then not sure it's clear to me how, when trying to build a new site, I want to design in Nicepage Desktop, install the theme and, say, the home page of the website, then tweak the home page and various theme elements in Nicepage Desktop (probably several times so it all functions properly and look good in WordPress) then upload the new design to WordPress: what's the best way to do this?
I have been uploading as a new theme but this resets things like the Reading Settings for the Home Page and Post pages which is a nuisance - there has to be a better way. Is that what the Import function is for?
