Ask a Question

Hi Team,

I am publishing our website using Nicepage Hosting and started to wonder how these websites are generated. And my question is: if we create a website in Nicepage and then publish it to Nicepage Hosting - how is it handling cookies? Are there any cookies used or website is not using any cookies?

Regards,
Mike

Dear Michał,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

By default, websites created and hosted with Nicepage do not utilize cookies unless specific features that require them are implemented. For instance, adding functionalities like contact forms, analytics, or third-party integrations may introduce cookies to your website.

To ensure compliance with regulations such as the GDPR, Nicepage offers a Cookie Consent Popup feature. This feature lets you inform visitors about cookie usage and obtain their consent. You can enable and customize this popup in the Site Settings under the GDPR section. For detailed instructions on setting up the Cookie Consent Popup, please refer to Nicepage's documentation:
Cookie Consent Popup

If you choose not to implement features that require cookies, your website will not use them. However, if you do incorporate such features, it's advisable to enable the Cookie Consent Popup to maintain transparency with your visitors.

If you have further questions or need assistance with specific features, please contact us.
...................................................
Sincerely,
Ahmad.

Hi Ahmad,

thank you for the explanation. Everything seems to be clear, however, I am wondering how to identify cookies in case we use on of the specific features, ex. contact form. Is there a way to identify what cookies and what they are gathering used?

I went through the documentations about Cookie Consent Popup, however I did not find in Nicepage options that are presented in the documentation. For instance Cookie Preferences - it's not available in both Online Builder and Nicepage Desktop.

Regards,
Mike

Dear Mike,

Thank you for your follow-up questions regarding cookie identification and the Cookie Consent Popup feature in Nicepage.

Identifying Cookies Used by Specific Features:

When you incorporate features like contact forms into your Nicepage website, certain cookies may be utilized to enhance functionality. For example, the Cookie Consent Popup uses cookies to remember a visitor's consent choice. To identify the specific cookies in use and understand the data they collect, you can follow these steps:

  1. Use Browser Developer Tools:

    • Open your website in a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).
    • Access the browser's developer tools (usually by pressing F12 or right-clicking and selecting "Inspect").
    • Navigate to the "Application" or "Storage" tab.
    • Under "Cookies," you'll see a list of cookies set by your website, including their names, values, and associated data.
  2. Third-Party Cookie Scanners:

    • Utilize online tools or browser extensions designed to scan websites for cookies and provide detailed reports on their usage.

Accessing the Cookie Consent Popup Feature:

The Cookie Consent Popup is available in the Nicepage Online Builder and the Nicepage Desktop app. To enable and customize this feature:

Open Nicepage Desktop app or Online Builder:
- Open your project.
- Click on "Site Settings" in the top menu.
- Navigate to the "Cookies" tab.
- You can enable the Cookie Consent Popup by checking the "Show on All pages" box and customize its appearance and behavior.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.

Sincerely,
Ahmad.
