Ask a Question

1) Is it better to use Default Keywords + Default Description in the Page Settings SEO

or HTML -> Meta Tags Bother appear to add Meta name="keywords" in different spots in the HTML

2) If I select General -> URLS -> Create Links without .html and I export to HTML it still appears to have the .HTML ?

So does the sitemap.xml ?

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for contacting us!

Default SEO: Nicepage's default SEO settings provide a basic level of optimization by automatically generating a title and description based on your page content.

HTML Meta Tags: Using the HTML Meta Tags section allows you to manually enter specific keywords and descriptions for each page. This gives you more control over your SEO and allows for better optimization.

Check Nicepage Documentation:
https://nicepage.com/doc/1121/site-settings
https://nicepage.com/doc/4579/page-settings

Create Links without .html: Selecting this option should instruct Nicepage to generate URLs without the .html extension when exporting the website.

Sitemap with .xml extension: The sitemap.xml file is a standard format used by search engines to understand your website's structure and content.

Let us know if you have any further questions!

Sincerely,
George.

Thanks.

If you create a blank simple site.

Site Settings - URLs 'Create Links without .html' ticked

Export Project HTML

Select Generate Sitemap

The resulting output has:

Files with .html and sitemap.xml with .html also ?

Is the URL's without .HTML not available for HTML Export ?

I plan on exporting to HTML and using in BLAZOR with URL-REWRITE to hide the .HTML

So it would be nice if the menus and sitemap didn't have the .html in the export ?

I may have missed something also?

Thanks

Hello Andrew,

Create Links without .htm is available for projects published on Nicepage hosting, not during HTML export.

Even though you select "Create Links without .html" in the settings, it applies to the website content, not the sitemap itself.
The sitemap is a separate file that lists the URLs of your website's pages and it needs to be a valid HTML file to be processed by search engines.

George.

Is it possible to add the ability to create links without .HTML as an option in the HTML output option and sitemap ?

I currently have is web.config rewriting the URL to be clean without .HTML

The sitemap:

https://castlesoft.com.au/sitemap.xml

Is also without .HTML

But the menus in the HTML export site have .HTML

Ths would reduce redirection/duplicatre issues.

I currently don't get a nice tree structure when you search in Google for castlesoft

Yet site:castlesoft.com.au shows 7 pages indexed via sitemap ok.

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=castlesoft

https://www.bing.com/search?q=castlesoft

Bing looks ok, google doesn't want to index.

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the delay. Nicepage does not provide a built-in option to remove .html file extension from links for HTML export. We can only recommend that you try to setup Menu links manually using the Web Address option where you can set any desired URL.
But we added your request to our wish list.

No problem..

Manual URL is ok.

BUT I have a question.. Why when I export to HTML do I get an index.html and a Home.html

index.html - All good has content etc and default for webservers

Home.html is basically refresh ./

And its referenced in the index body data-home-page.

Can an option to only generate the index.html be added. The dummy Home.html redirect isn't needed...?

See attached graphic.

Hi,

At this moment, the home.html is not a duplication of the index.html file. It does not take up much space and does not cause SEO problems, but it is needed for the correct work of the website.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
