Using an existing site design as a template

Ask a Question

I'd like to develop a design I've created whilst still retaining the original version. In Artisteer I could create a site design, save it twice, the second time with a different name, and work on the copy. Then changing that didn't work out, I could then go back to the old design and try something else. How do I do that with Nicepage?

At the moment, all I've been able to do by way of backup at different stages is to export zipped Wordpress themes at different stages, but I can't then reload them into Nicepage.

When I try to set up a new site, it gives the option of starting with a blank page or using one of the ready-made templates. Is there any way that I could save my work as a template?

Hi Martin,

Sure. you can do that. But you need to export the theme as a Project. That creates the .zip of Nicepage format and you can then Import it into the application again, which will create the duplication of the site.

Thanks, Hella. That worked for me.

Only comment is that the name of the file, which auto-suggests as "Name of Project".zip, is the same as that of the zipped file created for WordPress. With Artisteer, the zip file was given an .artx extension which helped differentiate the two sorts of file.

Hi Martin,

Nicepage uses the .zip format so make sure you give the desired name to the project to define it from the exported themes.
