Import Existing Website For Edit

Ask a Question

I can not seem to find a clear answer nor any way to accomplish my goal. I have a website on my local drive. That's my site. I need to be able to import / load it into nicepage & edit it from there. I see a forum entry stating that is not possible to do. Clarify. and if possible, provide instructions. (I am not very hopeful as you all seem to want proprietary formats.) My current site is just .html files and images. Very basic. Again, a) upload existing site; b) edit normally.

Hello Mark,

We appreciate your inquiry.

However, we must clarify that it is not possible to import existing HTML websites into Nicepage directly. Nicepage works with its proprietary project files, and the import/export functionality is designed to work within the Nicepage ecosystem.

If you have the content and structure of your website, the recommended approach would be to recreate it within Nicepage by building the pages using the available features and elements. Nicepage provides a user-friendly interface for designing and customizing websites without the need for coding.

If you have any specific questions about using Nicepage or need assistance with certain elements of your design, feel free to ask.

Thank you for your understanding.

You apparently wasted time with another product and you’re blaming Nicepage?
That’s interesting.
You could always copy and paste your current text and images and recreate your site.

Mark,

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

Nicepage, as a website builder, currently does not support the direct import of HTML sites due to the differences in underlying structures and technologies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
In the meantime, as a workaround, you can manually copy and paste your text and images to recreate your site within Nicepage. We understand that this may not be the ideal solution, but it allows you to leverage the features and design capabilities of Nicepage.
We appreciate your time and thank you for giving Nicepage a try.

Hello @nicepage2024y2,

I understand your concern, but your behavior is not fair. I can understand that it would be convenient to import an HTML webpage and then convert it to Nicepage elements. If you don't feel like recreating your website in Nicepage yourself, I'm sure there are users here who would do it for free for a donation or just for the fun of it.

Once your website has been created in Nicepage, it offers many practical advantages. I've been using Nicepage for a few years now, am a committed subscriber and am excited to see how Nicepage develops.

Best regards,
Sebastian

I created my site with Nicepage which took ALOT of time. Now after the updates the software does not see the site I created with Nicepage on my hard drive and will not allow me to import it. I have some changes to make and cannot make them with nicepage, eventhough it it is a Nicepage created site on my desktop. I wish MS still supported Frontpage.

The page was created with Nicepage. After an update the page disappeared from my Nicepage desktop platform. The Files are still on my hard drive but I cannot access them because the software now tells me that they are not Nicepage files. I created them with your software.

Hello,

According to your description, you have saved(exported) your site to HTML not as a project. Please send a screenshot of the folder files of your archive.
Desktop application can import only project format files or exported pages.

You can also use the restored site from the backup if you had saved the site before the update.

Please create a new ticket about your issue to not spam the conversation creator.

ok this is an absolutely STUPID practice not allowing import of existing HTML. My site is PHP and driven by ALOT of server side code. Creating a static HTML version of my pages to import and refine my css is not a problem but I am NOT recreating the entire site when all i want to do is put a pretty paint job on it. What you suggest defeats the time saving benefits of your software and that's a deal breaker. Whoever made the decision to run it like this should not be allowed to make decisions anymore. I will stick with Pinegrow as they clearly understand dev

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

Nicepage does not support direct importing of existing HTML or PHP projects into the editor. The workflow is designed primarily for creating and maintaining designs within the Nicepage environment and then exporting them as HTML, WordPress, or Joomla projects.

We understand your frustration, as the free version you are using is limited to exporting the project file.
Our recommendation is to store the project folder or export your site as a project each time you export the HTML version, especially if you plan to delete it from the desktop application. That is not a complicated task and will keep your site safe since you will have the ability to edit it anytime using our application.

While Nicepage may not be the best fit for your current workflow, we hope you’ll keep an eye on future updates as we continue improving based on customer needs.

Anna.

If you originally created the site with Nicepage desktop, the files should be there, unless you deleted or moved them.
Check the Documents\Nicepage folder for the site_###### folders where the site files are.
There is also a backups folder there that might have the files.
