Ok, thank you for this answer confirming this limitation in your software.
If I may, I think this should become a feature request for future releases. There are some use cases that multilingual sites must deviate from the base language. Like I mentioned there are for instance different books that one needs to promote in the different languages, a store might want to highlight other (local) holidays, a consultancy company has different clients and case studies...
I also noticed that other WordPress translators like WPML don't work together with NicePage, so there is no alternative there either. The added value of such translators is that they have an auto-translate feature, thus reducing the workload.
A last feature request for multilanguage is to make the language switcher part of the top menu.
