Ask a Question

Hi,

I want to make a multilingual site on https://petersnoeckx.com/ - so far this works well (language switcher on the bottom of the page). However, since the site is about some books I wrote in Dutch, not all pages are relevant in the English translation. Also the blog is only maintained in Dutch so it is not desirable to give a summary of that on the English homepage, while I want it on the Dutch homepage.
I noticed that when I eliminate an element or block in the English, that this has impact also on the Dutch language site as well.

So the question is: is there a way that the translated page 'deviates' from the original, or must it always be an exact copy?

Thank, Kind regards,
Peter

Peter,

We translate texts on the page, so the page is the same.

Ok, thank you for this answer confirming this limitation in your software.

If I may, I think this should become a feature request for future releases. There are some use cases that multilingual sites must deviate from the base language. Like I mentioned there are for instance different books that one needs to promote in the different languages, a store might want to highlight other (local) holidays, a consultancy company has different clients and case studies...

I also noticed that other WordPress translators like WPML don't work together with NicePage, so there is no alternative there either. The added value of such translators is that they have an auto-translate feature, thus reducing the workload.

A last feature request for multilanguage is to make the language switcher part of the top menu.

Hello Peter,

We understand your frustrations with multilingual site management in Nicepage.
As you noted, Nicepage currently translates entire pages, making exact copies in different languages.
Integrating existing WordPress translation plugins like WPML isn't possible with Nicepage.

Nicepage supports using the Loco Translate Plugin and the poEdit Application. With the help of these tools, you can translate the Nicepage theme and plugin. For more information, open these links:

However, we will consider your request. We have added your suggestions to our wish list.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
George.
