I will like it if we can use a shortcode as a link when creating links for buttons and images. I often use a lightbox that needs to open on a button click that requires a shortcode to be implemented.

Shortcode is a component that outputs the supported blocks if specified. You can try to use additional CSS id and trigger that id using the Jscript. Unfortunately, it requires manual coding, and there is no solution from the box.
