I would like to see a section in the ready to use templates area with a selection of Joomla layouts with pre-determined module positions already defined. A variety of layouts that include menu position, sidebar position, footer position, and other common module positions. This would make it quicker to start designing a new layout for a Joomla project.

Geoff,

There are no such blocks. Premades are universal, and you can use a predesigned block in Joomla Extension, add a position into a block, give it a name, and then link this position in Joomla.
