Ask a Question

I have added the nicepage plugin for joomla, created a theme then exported it (yes ticked all boxes for content, menus etc) and used joomla to import as template. It is not a big site, only one page in fact. Unfortunately the content does not show on the live site. It is however there, if I go to the article I can see the full page and I can preview it, I just cant work out how to get it to show on the website. What have I forgot to do? Thanks

Hello, this could have various reasons:

  1. Did you connect your page with the Nicepage Menu (called Content / Menu1)?
  2. Did you put this Menu to the right position: public in hmenu?
  3. Did you set your Page as standard in this menu?
  4. Did you set your Nicepage template as standard in template?
  5. Did you import the content in your active (standard) template?

Hi Jo,

Looks like you haven't set the correct menu. Go to the Extensions >> Module Manager and check that the menu module is using the correct menu source (the one that was created in Nicepage). Then check that the menu module is placed in the hmenu position. Then also check that within the Menu your menu item with the page is set to be used as the site default page.

And I checked the module as in the answer.

Still doesn't work. Any more suggestions?

Hi
I have a similar issue. When making the Nicepage project import I do not import the menus. It looks like you have the solution "Please check that the menu module is positioned in the correct position (hmenu) and also that it is using the correct menu source." but I do not understand what to do. Is there a video or a manual showing what to do?
On top of this my home page is not displaying.
But all the articles (pages designed in Nicepage desktop) where imported I can see it in joomla administrator page.
Regards,
Pierre

Dear all,
by the way I found my mistake. I say it in case this can help others. In fact I forgot a last step at the end of the import of my nicepage project into Joomla. This step is to make Extensions > Template > Styles, then click on the project/template you have imported from Nicepage. Then you have to click on the button at the bottom named "Import Content From Template".
To be honest this was not explained in the video I saw on nicepage project importation into joomla. Maybe this video should be updated.
Regards, Pierre

Hi Pierre,

There are two ways on how to import content:

  1. Impost from the theme. Just like you described in the post above
  2. Import from Plugin using Nicepage >> Import option on the top Joomla bar.

The menu is created in case of the Import #1. The Import #2 imports articles only. But Nicepage uses standard Joomla Menu and Menu Module. You can find the detailed instruction on how to manage Joomla menus in the Joomla documentation. For Nicepage themes, you need to use "hmenu" module position. This is the only difference.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi again, I have been using this method to import my new templates fine for some time but now I have just done a new template and there is no position 'hmenu'. I cannot get the template to show at all. Any ideas?
I am using Joomla 3.10.3 and Nicepage V3.23.2
Could it be that the desktop version of nicepage is creating templates for joomla 4? I do not have an option to select joomla 3 when exporting it. I tried uploading to joomla 4 and it does not work on that either.

Hello Jo,

Please check your Modules, if you don't have the module Menu with hmenu position named, you can create the new one.

hmenu.png

Export function for Joomla allows you to choose the version, there could be version 4 set by default, you need to choose 3,
please check the screenshot:

Hi Anna
thank you :) will check again but there was no version option, I did look for it :(
thanks re module, will check that out Does it make a difference if I build on the desktop version as opposed to the online one? I find the online one frustratingly slow (my internet connection I think as much as anything!)

Hi,

Exactly what operations are slow online?
In general, it should not be any major difference in performance between the CMS plugin and the Desktop application. But the Desktop application is local. Therefore, it may work faster. But it depends on what operations are slow online. If the problem is related to the browser performance, the Desktop will work the same as it uses a built-in browser too. I recommend that you check the system task manager (CPU and memory usage) and close all applications running in parallel with Nicepage. And then see how the editor works.
