Ask a Question

Hi,

I'm doing a website to be published in China. So Google fonts is not an option. I'm using custom fonts with @font-face, but exported theme still has link to Google Fonts.

Is it possible to disable Google fonts for a project? Or remove the link?

Maybe a possibility to select use Google fonts or not. Then only standard fonts (or custom) would be available?

Best regards,
Janne

P.S. Can you also add using custom fonts to wishlist?

Hi Janne,

The link to the google fonts should not be added to the page when the web-safe fonts like Arial are used. I've asked our developers to check this issue.
But in any case, the browser should load safe fonts from the local fonts library. The link can be removed manually if needed.

We've added custom fonts to our wish list.

Hi Janne,

Yes, as mentioned above, I've asked our developers why it happens. But this link can be removed manually if needed. The font will be loaded from the system in any case.

Hi,

You made it sound so easy but it isn't.

I can't get rid of it.

I did search on all files of the theme and found the link and deleted it from content.json and color-scheme-control.js but it does not help.

I think it it is added by customizer.js which has something like GoogleFonts.find(function(e){return e.className===t||-1!==e["font-family"] etc.

Or some other file. I don't know. These files are too hard to read for me and I'm afraid to modify them because I don't want to break the whole site.

Can you explain me how to get rid of the google fonts link manually?

Best regards,
Janne

Hi Janne,

If you're working with WP export please check header-styles.php file also. The content.json file is responsible for importing content. Therefore you should re-import the content after you removed the corresponding lines.

Hi Robin,

Unfortunately, these links cannot be removed in Nicepage yet. But you can remove them manually after exporting.

Been wondering that too, would be so much easier if there was simply a setting like 'enable google fonts *' . And marking those with the * next to the font name for visibility.

Setting not enabled: google fonts don't show in the list. Setting enabled: normal and google fonts are on the list with the Google ones having a * next to them

Hi,

Starting with 2.4 update Nicepage uses system font when you select Safe font.

The link to the google fonts in the Joomla theme is located in the index.php file.

Hello Jutta,

Please create a new private case providing more info, as we do not recommend changing the exported file.

you can activate "Embed Google Fonts" under "Site Settings", Tab GDPR. Then the Google Fonts are saved directly in the project.

Hi, thanks for your comment. We´ve enabled "Embeded Google Fonts" under site settings on the website and even in the desktop version. Afterwards we made an export/import of the theme, but Google Web Fonts are still existing! Unfortunately it doesn´t work.
