Licensing question

Ask a Question

I need some clarification on how your licensing works. I paid for a Ultimate lifetime license account. This only carries 1 year of updates, so then I'm stuck with having to pay again to get the updates. What point is having the ultimate LIFETIME account if I have to keep paying for it in order to keep the plugin working?

So then I paid for a personal account to minimize my cost to get access to the updates again. And now I'm facing restrictions for number of blocks per page that is a limit on the personal account.

Help me out here. This doesn't make much sense. How can you remedy this situation? After paying for lifetime, there should be a minimal amount to reup the updates rather than repaying for ultimate again. I'm inclined to cut my loss of investment and drop this plugin altogether if this can't be rectified.

At very least the marketing is confusing. Is the application license referring to the OS version of the Nicepage application? My main issue with this application is that I developed a site on it and then tried to transfer it to the Wordpress web server and it did NOT convert 100% as it was on the application version (plus the process is clumbsy). So I've abandoned the idea of the application altogether.

Disclaimer: I am not a Nicepage employee, although I have used Nicepage and its predecessor Artisteer for many years.

This is a common issue in the software industry. There are many products that come with a standard subscription. Those products will stop working at the end of the subscription period unless you continuously renew the subscription. There are products that come with a LIFETIME LICENSE. Those products will NOT stop working, but will not update to more recent versions once you have come to the end of the free update period. This is the model that Nicepage follows. Finally, there are products that have a LIFETIME LICENSE WITH LIFETIME UPDATES. There are fewer and fewer of these programs on the market. You will see these licenses mostly on DEVICES with embedded software (e.g. an external vehicle GPS device).

Nicepage offers a reduced price at the end of your free update period to encourage you to renew your access to updates. There are also opportunities to update at reduced pricing, such as the recently ended Black Friday deals period.

As far as converting Nicepage projects from HTML5 to the supported CMS versions, there will always be potential issues with this process, since not every feature of Nicepage is compatible with the features of CMS's (and vice-versa). If you intend to work with CMS systems, there is more incentive to keep Nicepage up-to-date, since the CMS's themselves get updated from time to time, and it is possible that some constructs in an older version of Nicepage may no longer be compatible with the CMS as it evolves.

I agree with you Jack what you said about potential issues ( HTML/CSM) and precisely on this point I think nice page should strengthen customer care and support for its customers in different ways such as live chat, phone, with no biblical response times, what prevents them from doing this? yet they always have social proof in this communication gap. Their policy seems to me more oriented towards implementing the product rather than reassuring the customer and investing in the human capital that supports the product and not vice versa. I have already renewed my pro license for priority support until 2026 but I confess that I don't feel safe at all. I find it amazing people like you Jack who give such a clear and informative answer to your peers that I have never heard from nicepage support, at the ends , hopefully for a better nice page. Thank you Jack

Thanks Jack. I understand there are different models, the problem I've found here is that their marketing is not at all understandable on where they fall within those models. I thought I was buying a Lifetime Ultimate license (with expiring update access after 1 year), and all features would be persistent, with the exception of updates. That is not actually the model they are selling, as is apparent only upon renewal time. The model apparently is .. pay us EVERY year for this level or you lose access to premium features. It's not truly the updates that are being restricted .. it's ALL Premium functionality within the CMS as well. Frankly, it comes off as a scam .. certainly a dodgy, non-transparent model.

@Support ... you didn't provide any response to me at all.

Nice product, I find it useful. But you're not the only useful product. I'll be using Brizy from now on, it actually does have a lifetime model, with a useful, functional and transparent licensing structure to client sites. I bought into a lifetime license with both of them, now I see how it's panned out I'll go forward with just the one.

Joshua,

Generally, with the subscription you pay 20% less and always get the latest version.

I now have the same issue were I have paid for a lifetime application. with 1 year of update, but now i see its has all of a sudden change to a subscription plan??

the subscription was never an option when I purchased the lifetime PRO version.

You can still use these versions without updating as long as they do what you need.
And there are choices now of lifetime licenses or subscription depending on your needs.

As we can see you have a Nicepage Pro premium license, but the updates are expired.
The Nicepage licenses continue to work even if the updates will be expired,
In other words, by having the premium license you have a lifetime license with one year of updates.
After the year is expired if you wish you can extend the updates with a certain discount or you can use your last version before the updates expired as long as you want without extending it.
Check the available versions here - https://nicepage.com/User/app/downloads

And as a word of warning, don't open any old sites with a new unlicensed version or you probably won't be able to go back.
