There is no option to use 404 template for the HTML pages within Nicepage.

Exactly, this is the server page and when you use the simple HTML theme, there is no way to create this page in Nicepage. When you use CMS, you can apply the Nicepage template to server pages like 404 as they are processed by CMS and can be arranged with the template that you have created.

I don't understand how to manage the 404-Page to show up in the Live-Site in case of an error.
