Ask a Question

I need to install cookiebot.com as a script to manage consent and cookie policy.
I installed it as an "additional script" in HTML Additional Head.
However, Cookiebot reports that other scripts are loaded first.

Isn't it expected to use a script that can be executed before all the others?

The GDPR section implemented by you first requires the user to click in the popup and then in the cookiebot script.

I think that considering the importance of cookies and the current legislation it is essential to allow the correct use of this tool also by third parties.

Hi Giorgio

I had the same issue with the Cookiebot script some months ago - please see the discussion here: https://nicepage.com/questions/228881/script-in-the-head

Nicepage only adds scripts just before the closing /head tag so you need to add the script manually to WordPress or joomla so it is just after the opening head tag.

I'm sure it would be easy for Nicepage to give the option to also add scripts to just after the opening head tag, so hopefully they will do this sometime soon. :-)

Hi Giorgio,

Unfortunately we cannot control what script is added first and all the custom scripts that are added by the user in the theme using the Site Settings >> HTML >> Additional Head HTML option is added after all the other head scripts.

Nicepage you developed it! How is it possible that you cannot enter an order in which the scripts are executed?
For exampe you insert script for recaptcha, google tag, google analitycs. For the GDPR it is important that these scripts are only executed after the user's consent.
With the new regulation in Europe it is also necessary to keep track of whether users have accepted consent or not.
It is therefore important to have the possibility of using external scripts (such as cookiebot or iubenda) and these scripts must be executed before all the others because they allow you to block or not the execution of the scripts.
It is very important that you implement this system in your software. Otherwise it would not be possible to use google analytics, tagmanager etc.

Hi Giorgio,

We do not have the option to detect what script should be placed in what exact place so all of them are added in the end of the head section, analytics and other special functionality are added with the special options in the corresponding tabs in the Site Settings.
We'll consider your suggestion for our wishlist.

I understand that you may not know where to insert scripts, but you can make what is entered in a particular field run before all other scripts.
Thus it would be possible to insert scripts to block cookies if the user does not want to allow them.

I agree Georgio. It shouldn't be any more difficult to add the Additional Head HTML just after the opening head tag as just before the closing head tag. Or, even better, offer two options: Additional Head HTML that is placed just after the opening head tag and also Additional Head HTML that is just placed just before the closing head tag.

That's right I don't think it's that difficult to implement this solution. But it would make a big difference.

I agree. Manually opening each html file and moving the cookie script to the beginning is very time consuming. It also defeats the use of the FTP-upload function.

I would also vote for this as a new feature. It should be pretty easy to implement: "all scripts added by user should come first"

I do the same - my cookiebot script can only work if put on each article in additional HTML, not in one place for all pages, but then the cookie icon stays in the bottom of the page.
