Hi Debra,

The widgets you see in the application are the native WP widgets that you can find under the Appearance >> Widgets. If you need to have placeholders for widgets (widget areas), then add the Position control.

Hella,
I need more information about this:

  • Can you use WP widgets in a static web page created by NicePage? If so, how?

  • Or can you only use WP widgets when the NicePage website is exported as a theme to WP. In that case, how does the WP Widget work in Nicepage? Is it just a placeholder for the widget?

In other words, we need some documentation on how to implement WP widgets in a Nicepage website (either static or theme).

Thank you.

Debra,

If you want to use WP widget you need WP for this.
You can install NicePage plugin into your WP instance or import theme created in NicePage desktop into WP.

Sorry for chiming in, but figure better here than creating a dulicate thread!

So my question/concern here is, I think many of us are confused on wether or not new roll outs like these only work on nicepage hosted sites or on exported websites and if so (for exported websites), which ones and with what functionality goes along with that. I believe this is the case because there were many instances where features were being rolled out that only worked on nicepage sites, as well as features that only work for HTML, and wordpress etc. (And after reading all the articles I could find about the calendar addition, none of the documentation states wether or not it will work for anything other than Nicepage sites, (Which I tend to assume is where it is supposed to work becuase you have a neat little section for appointments here on nicepage - which is the same way you have for forms - which only works on nicepage hosted sites!! - EXCEPT for the fact that you are stating here it DOES indeed work for Wordpress sites....and NOT for nicepage hosted sites, then...so my next questions would have to be...)

When using the calendar interface within nicepage builder, and exporting to wordpress, does the plugin then connect to nicepage to send and retrieve the calendar widgets data from all the corresponding functionality such as sending the emails, creating the appointments, notifications to customers and website owners etc and then display that information within the section on nicepages website you have created to list such??? I am completely confused as one would assume that kind of functionality wouldn't be bundled into this kind of system/WP Plugin and if it were, one would assume management of such data would them be managed within the Wordpress Backend along with everything else and not on our niepage user accounts sections....or is this just an interface to design the standard wordpress widget leaving all the other functionality to 3rd party plugins we have to install ourselves (which makes more sense to me! And apparently everyone else...I hope you can see the confusion here. And yes I have to agree with the OP on this, more explicit documentation is needed. Nicepage has a tendency to gloss over much needed details which would probably save you guys a lot of time having to answer way less questions if you just detailed them more from the start. While I do understand how many questions you also receive from non-technical users as well which probably makes you feel like it defeats the purpose!! But I promise you IT DOESN'T!), and if so then what role does Nicepage play in terms of the functionality and then what are the appointment sections in our user accounts for???

Ok, well thanks for letting me add my 2 cents. Also if you (Nicepage) could answer these questions for us that would be great!!

Thank you!!

Hello Jessica Termini

Thank you for your detailed questions and feedback!

Calendar Functionality in Nicepage-Hosted Websites vs. Exported Websites

Nicepage-Hosted Sites:

  • The calendar widget integrates fully with Nicepage's appointment management system. It handles scheduling, sending emails, notifications, and managing appointments directly through the Nicepage user account.
  • This functionality is exclusive to Nicepage-hosted websites.

Exported Websites (Static HTML):

  • For static HTML websites, the calendar widget acts as a design placeholder. It does not include any backend functionality like scheduling or notifications. You would need to integrate a third-party API or service to enable these features.

Exported Websites (WordPress):

  • When exported to WordPress, the calendar widget serves as a design interface to integrate with WordPress’s native functionality or third-party plugins. The Nicepage plugin does not provide scheduling or notification features itself. Instead:

  • Use third-party WordPress plugins (e.g., Booking Calendar, Modern Events Calendar) to manage the backend (emails, appointments, notifications).

  • All management of appointments and functionality is handled through the WordPress backend, not Nicepage.

Role of Nicepage Plugin for WordPress

The Nicepage plugin for WordPress:

  • Enables the import and customization of themes and templates created in the Nicepage builder.
  • Serves as a bridge to integrate placeholder widgets and blocks with WordPress functionality.
  • Does not provide backend management for appointments, calendars, or notifications. All backend functionality must be handled using third-party plugins or WordPress’s native tools.

Appointment Sections in Nicepage User Accounts
The appointment-related features in your Nicepage account are only relevant for Nicepage-hosted websites. These tools allow you to manage appointments, emails, and notifications for websites hosted on Nicepage servers. Once you export your site (as HTML or WordPress), this functionality no longer applies.

Key Differences in Functionality

Nicepage-Hosted Sites: Fully functional calendars, forms, and appointment management tools.

Exported Static HTML Sites: Visual placeholders with no backend functionality. Requires custom integrations for features.

Exported WordPress Sites: Design placeholders that require integration with WP plugins for backend features.

We appreciate your feedback on the need for clearer documentation. We’re working on creating more explicit guides to:

  • Detail feature compatibility across Nicepage-hosted, static HTML, and WordPress sites.
  • Provide examples of how placeholders like calendar widgets can be linked to third-party tools for full functionality.

We hope this clarifies your concerns! If you have further questions or need guidance on integrating third-party plugins with your exported websites, let us know. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we’ll strive to improve the documentation to make these distinctions clearer.

Sincerely,
George.
