Ask a Question

Hello,

I'm working with Joomla V3 and V4.
When creating a new theme I export the the theme or the "Export Site" function and choose which Joomla Version I need.
That works great.

There will be a lot of websites I will need to upgrade to Version V4.1.x of Joomla in the near future.
My questions now are:
1.
Do I need to create a new theme for Version 4 with the destop version of Nicepage in order to make it work?
I guess so, right?

2.
When I install a new theme ( and a theme only) all the contents of the website will still be there, right?

3.
What if the theme has been changed by me with the joomla extension I used on the website with Version 3 of Joomla?
Will it work with Joomla 4 without changes.

4.
And what if there is no project file available anymore with the Desktop Version of Nicepage.
Can I export the theme by the joomla extension and edit it afterwards with the Destop Version?

Thanks a lot for answers to all these questions

Best regards

Bernd

Hi, Bernd,

1) While exporting to Joomla from Nicepage, you should select either version 3 or 4. If you upgrade your Joomla website to version 4, you should reinstall the theme so it could be compatible with Joomla 4.

2) When you install only the theme, without pages, all the content remains the same after installation. Please check these articles:
https://nicepage.com/doc/72666/export-and-update-of-joomla-template-from-app
https://nicepage.com/doc/70107/installation-of-joomla-template-and-articles

3) Do you mean editing in the Nicepage plugin? If yes, the changes made in the plugin affect only Nicepage pages, the theme remains the same. Usually, the content is not removed after the transfer from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, but we recommend doing backups of pages and themes.

4) Unfortunately, the export of pages and themes from Joomla to Nicepage is not possible. If you need to edit something in the Desktop app, and you don't have a Project anymore, you can try to export separate Blocks and import them to Nicepage Desktop.

Let us know if you have other questions!
