A roadmap for Nicepage?

Ask a Question

I would like to see a clear roadmap for Nicepage. Which features are currently being implemented and by when can we expect them to be ready?

A clear roadmap will bring in new users and not frustrate current users. It's a crucial part of any serious software development.

I notice on these forums some users asked for a roadmap over a year ago already...

Many thanks for taking this into consideration.

Hi Pieter,

Usually, we post a short list of upcoming features in the topics about month updates:
https://nicepage.com/questions/19980/nicepage-update-december-2018

We do not provide a fixed long-term roadmap as the list of the planned features mostly depends on the customer requests we receive. In most of the cases, we add a lot of features to our plan by these requests.

Hello Olivia, thank you for your reply.

I think a well-thought-of roadmap is crucial though, especially in this very early stage. Nicepage is still missing a lot of very common modules, like a "back to top"-button, cookie warning popup, GDPR warning, smooth scrolling, basic animations, accordeons and toggles, a sitemap.xml file, etc... Most of these have already been mentioned on these forums in the past.

It seems like you have mainly focussed on flexible grids and automation so far, and that's great.

Hope you understand.

Hi Pieter,

Thank you for your suggestions.

Nicepage is still missing a lot of very common modules, like a "back to top"-button, cookie warning popup, GDPR warning, smooth scrolling, basic animations, accordeons and toggles, a sitemap.xml file, etc...

Back to Top control is in our plans;
Cookie and GDPR warnings can be added using any free CMS plugin. There are a lot of existing solutions for this. The same is related to the sitemap.xml. There are a lot of existing solutions;
We plan to support basic animation on scroll and hover transitions in the future Nicepage versions.

Please note that Nicepage is mostly a website design tool.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

I don't necessarely agree. Nicepage is not just a design tool. You can build full websites with it. I don't use any of the CMS you support. If it's just a design tool, why have you bothered adding all the editing features?

That's what I'm saying. I feel like there is a lack of focus in your development team. You guys really need a roadmap.

The homepage over here says: "Create stunning websites AND themes for free". So it should do both websites and templates, which is why it also needs accordeons, modal windows, back-to-top, smooth scrolling and all the things that are on the wishlist on these forums. I do not use Joomla or WP, as I focus on small 1-5 paged business card-like websites. No need to use a CMS for that.

Pieter,

Nicepage create the basic elements for the website (design, page layout, and content). All other features and extensions like gdpr warnings and sitemap are not the tasks for such tools. Some of the features like animations and back to top are in our plan to do as they are design elements. But not the sitemap, for example. It has no relation to design as well as gdpr warnings.

Thank you Olivia. I understand. But that was not the point of my post. The point was that you need to communicate very clearly about what you're planning to release in the near and far future. Hence the need for a roadmap... I now understand that you're not gonna focus on website building, but pure on design. That's OK, but that was not clear to me when I bought the software. And that is not OK. Many features in Nicepage do focus on content management already though, like adding all sorts of elements to pages, cropping images, setting meta tags for pages, the text-editing options... NP already offers a lot what classic CMS is supposed to do. It's a thin line, I understand... But I'm used to working with tools like Mobirise. Even though Mobirise is very limited when it comes to positioning and creativity, it comes with all the features I summed up above... It's a website builder, rather than a template builder. Nicepage is exact opposite, as I now see it.

And even if it's true that you focus on design... I think Artisteer did a better job in many aspects, like for the menu for instance. Artisteer came with tons of options for the menu section. Nicepage only comes with a very limited set of controls... Also, Artisteer came vertical menus. I never liked those though...

On the other hand, the button popup-type menu is very slick... You win some, you loose some :)

I agree with all you've said Pieter. Nicepage has some brilliant features but is far from a complete website building tool. If I could merge the flexibility of nicepage with the functionality of blocs 3 (https://blocsapp.com) - it would be a winner !! I like designing using nicepage put really miss the ability to add a message page with a few clicks rather than have to go searching for additional plug-ins or code. The file structure of nicepage is abysmal. So much so that I'm beginning to consider moving back to blocs. I've lost a few latest revisions due to this and the 'save project' option when exporting html doesn’t seem to work for me. It’s a repeatable problem so I have to meticulously export my projects to a separate folder in case things get screwed up again. The option of being able to work on my desktop and then pick up from where I left off using my laptop is not feasible, and, the web option doesn’t integrate with the desktop versions - how ridiculous is that ? Seeing more and more templates on the Facebook page is becoming tiring - why not see some new features than will help sell the product. It's all to easy to throw a few new designs together. Spend time developing an integral contact page !

Hi guys,

Thank you for your comments.
As mentioned above, we post a short list of upcoming features in the topics about month updates:
https://nicepage.com/questions/19980/nicepage-update-december-2018

It is difficult to post a list of upcoming features for far future as this list constantly changes.
If you're interested in some specific feature please ask and we'll let you know whether it is in our to-do plan or not.

+1 for a roadmap.

Also, as a new user, I'm very confused by the comments from Support indicating that Nicepage is only a design tool.

This would make sense if Nicepage provided design tools only. However, the fact that Nicepage provides hosting for people who "need a site" (see pricing page) suggests that Nicepage is, in fact, trying to provide BOTH design tools and web site services:
* https://nicepage.com/pricing

I also just now found this lengthy article claiming that Nicepage is targeting the needs of BOTH web designers and web masters:
* https://nicepage.com/doc/article/20348/web-design-3-0-when-your-web-design-really-matters

In light of this, it was very disappointing to learn from this discussion that very basic web site management tools (like site maps and GDPR notifications) along with other web site enhancements (accordions, modal windows. etc.) will NOT be available in my hosted online account.

I had originally hoped to begin using Nicepage'sonline hosting services for my own web site development/hosting -- and I was looking forward to recommending Nicepage's hosting services to others....

Unfortunately now I will need to reconsider my entire game plan.....

Hello.

I think that this is a real and old problem of Nicepage developers.

When they launched Themler (an old project at http://themler.io/) the slogan was something about "Easy to use, No coding, Content creating, No design/code skills needed" - in fact this this not true. Themler was product for junior developers and designers, for people who know how web works, what is Grid system at least. And it's not easy tool with one button to create template in 2 sec.

What next? They ask, they get! A huge number of people who expect an easy tool but don't understand how Themler works at all, as they don't know how web technology works, what is design basics. But Themler team promise that they don't need this knowledges.

Now we have Nicepage with all these promises again.

What in fact now?
"Create stunning websites with Nicepage" - there need small heading like a "No sitemap included, No cookie, No GDPR, No multilanguage etc." :)

Lets see Nicepage Features:

Theme Settings - no description. Some users may think that there must be sitemap and site performance option.
All Sections You Need And More - no full list. Just "And more..."

BTW other pagebuilders have Sitemap and Performance (website optimization) in setting.

If Nicepage only for CMS - no problem. But I don't understand what is the reason to use CMS if I can create pages with Nicepage standalone, add all this "Sections You Need And More" etc.

If Nicepage for HTML and provides SaaS solution - seems there is a lack of some tools. And developers says that Nicepage about design, not about this tools.

So what is Nicepage? Only design tool? Or to create websites (with sitemap, cookies and GDPR ready, with performance options like WebP converted, lazy loading etc.)

You say

Some of the features like animations and back to top are in our plan
to do as they are design elements. But not the sitemap, for example.
It has no relation to design as well as gdpr warnings.

So Nicapage related to design projects only, from your words... then you need leave only one option: export design as image.

BTW Back toTop is almost year in wishlist. Probably a difficult task :)

Strange things about all of this :)

BUT... in overall, need to admit - Nicepage is great software, support team is awesome, they hear and help. And developers creates many awesome and unique features. Nicepage really Revolutionary Freehand Positioning tool and it's easy to use.

I wish to Nicepage new ideas and to hear his customers (as they already do it)! :)

I agree. :-) In my very limited experience, Nicepage has been easy-to-use -- and Support has been extremely helpful. It is for these reasons that I was so interested in considering the possibility of using the hosted version of Nicepage....

But now, with so many missing (basic) web site features....I'm not so sure any more... :-(

Rather than relying on WP and Joomla integrations and users, Nicepage should focus on its own strenghts as an all-in-one website builder. Like Mobirise has done actually. Mobirise has become a very reliable and complete website builder, including all the features that users have asked for over here. Also, Mobirise contact forms actually work. Nicepage contact forms do not (without custom coding).

Having the WP and Joomla users on board does not necessarily mean a big deal. They would typically use one of the zillion free WP themes out there and use the gutenberg editor, or one of the dozens other page editors.

I have a Nicepage PRO license for a year. I have missed a clear road map and I haven't seen any major update in the past year. Most updates were cosmetical, not fundamental. I will therefore not renew my Nicepage license.

My last post here was deleted. Hope this is only because I leave here link to other pagebuilder. I will rewrite it now without this link to other pagebuilder, but If here is other reason, please delete it again and let me know. Then I will never write critique to your side.

Yep. I have some example too. But can't leave name/link here as my previous post was deleted.

Ok, Nicepage, I saw yor Terms.

Just look how other companies serve their plans - additional post with examples... when you read this you wait and want it :)
What about Nicepage? "This feature in our wishlist" - it's all :)

Also, many of them have option to create Sitemap and Optimize code/images delivery.

Let's back to Roadmap. Someone really need it, to trust. Maybe Nicepage will be closed soon? Like Themler, an old project from Nicepage, that get only bug fixes and stuck with old technology like outdated Bootstrap 3. And with huge Wishlist with thousand votes without attention.

So if we look back at Themler: we have outdated product with many features in Wishlist in archive and this features will never be developed. I personally spent a lot of time on suggestions. But development stopped without attention to this suggestions. When customers look at Themler why they must to trust to Nicepage?

Sorry, just a little sad. And as I said, please delete this post again, if you want, I will understand. But read this and other posts, this is not only my personal opinion. I'm with you since Artisteer times and always defended your products. On Themler forum I tried to answers to customers who don't know how to start, I wrote how to work with Themler, what need to know and how powerful Themler is if you learn how to work with it. But now, when we almost lost Themler... I have no words....

But I hope that Nicepage team will be back to Themler too and will made Nicepage as perfect as it can be, for all, who need to use it with CMS and for HTML :)

IMHO Nicepage excellent software exactly for HTML and SaaS (hosted). For me very important to have multilanguage feature for HTML websites in Nicepage. Without this feature I can't use it.

Nicepage can be a real gamechanger if focus on HTML and SaaS solution. As Nicepage editor already unique and easy to use.
