Ask a Question

Hi everybody,

I'm currently building up a website with nice page entirely, it works great, a lot of features that make it easier to create.
I have only one problem...visiting the site as a visitor it result very slow and this ruins the user experience.

I currently have nicepage on wordpress and my applications run on php v5.5 which is an old version of php. Might be this the problem?
Maybe upgrading the php the website will be faster?

Thank you all in advance :)

Something to check is the size of the images.
Keep them under 1600px wide and see if it helps.

Hello Rossana,

There could be different reasons for slow-loading pages- large images, videos, complicated layouts, elements that consumes large amount of your memory, low server requirements or limitation, hosting provider, additional plugins or user's browser extensions.
Please share the link to your page so we could check.

PHP version upgrade requires to backup your whole site and further installation and additional settings, and more important - time to save and transfer everything.

It's recommended that your host supports PHP 7.3 or above, MySQL 5.6 or above, the mod_rewrite Apache module, and HTTPS support.
A quick side note, if you only have older PHP or MySQL versions, WordPress also works with PHP 5.2.4+ and MySQL 5.0+, but your site may not run well and some versions like PHP 5.5, 7.0, and 7.1 are no longer receiving active support.

We cannot insist to update, it is up to you.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Anna T

Hello Rossana,

Yes, indeed the page speed should be checked and improved.
The main recommendations for your used images and other objects can be changed already without PHP update.
Please use the free tool to check and improve your site speed according to the tips from https://pagespeed.web.dev

Hello Rossana,

You can also install some SEO plugins and Cache Plugins. The image file sizes should be compressed too.
Please also check your site without pre-loading page

In general - you can achieve a better result for your page loading speed with your current server configuration, but you will need to check all the opportunities.
CSS and Javascript come with a Nicepage theme and cannot be reduced without optimization tools on the exported theme on your site.

Thank you.
