Ask a Question

I recently purchased Nicepage to build two websites for two different clients. I have found the development of the pages to be very simple. I published the first website and all was well until I turned on SSL. At that point the header and pages became formatted incorrectly. That said, The host I am using is Network Solutions. The tool that they recommend to do the redirection is Really Simple SSL. I have tried a few others with no significant change. I host my company website with Network Solutions which was developed with Themler (Also developed by Artisteer as I understand). I use the same SSL tools with that site and have no problems. Is anyone having luck turning on SSL with Nicepage developed pages.

Beyond securing a site, SSL is also something that Google looks for when ranking a page. If I'm unable to turn on SSL, it will affect the effectiveness of the site.

If there is any light you could shed on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated. I am relatively technical, so if you have a document or instructions as to how you may have resolved the issue, it would help tremendously.

Interesting. Thank you. I've seen a few comments on these boards about SSL so I had concerns as to whether there is a problem. I appreciate your reply.

Can I ask, how are you doing the redirect to HTTPS? Are you putting code in .htaccess yourself or are you using a pluggin or some other method?

I added the code, but it now has a switch in the cPanel domains settings to do it for you.

Hi Folks,

The problem is now resolved. My issue came as I was trying to turn on the SSL feature after the page was published. That created a lot of grief for me because if there was an issue which I really at this point cannot fully define. Network Solutions would look a the the Nicepage theme and tell me that Nicepage was incompatible with SSL. This happened in more than one call. In this last iteration...I deleted my Wordpress install. I reinstalled a Wordpress install under another sitename. Once Wordpress was installed and I was able to see the default "Hello World" page that Wordpress creates under the "Vanity URL" which Network Solutions issues (It is not your registered url) I then pointed my domain name to the site instance. I waited for the DNS to propogate. Hello World then being seen at my registered URL. Then I turned on SSL. I waited until SSL was fully implemented. At that point I installed Really Simple SSL. It wasn't until I had SSL working did I try to Publish my Nicepage site which implements the Nicepage Theme. This gave me success in publishing the pages and now I have a process for moving forward.

I hope this helps other folks troubleshooting SSL issues. For me, the problem was understanding how three companies (Network Solutions, Really Simple SSL and Nicepage.) technologies interact. The process I described above I expect would work for others. I've since republished the site and all seems to be working well.

Thank you for your help.
