Ask a Question

Dear Nicepage community,

Unfortunately, Google no longer supports creating map links without an API key. Therefore, the links in the following format no longer work:

https://maps.google.com/maps?output=embed&q=Manhattan%2C%20New%20York&z=10&t=m

To make the map work you should choose the Point option and specify API key:

Point-option.png

For more information please refer to the following documentation
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/embed/get-started

Sincerely,

Nicepage Support Team

I just ran through this.
What a PIA.
They recommend restricting the key, but whenever I do that, the links don't work.

Is this a PAID service now????

With a $200 credit each month, and free access on mobile devices, it's unlikely we'll need to pay, but it depends on usage.
I generated the Bing map html code and it works, but I can't figure out how to do it with a pin placed on our location.
If someone could figure that out, it would be great.

Using the Google maps API, if you use the APP/API restrictions, which is recommended, it won't work.
I chatted with their tech support.
This is their response.
They said the website creating software needs to be updated.

It looks like the issue is tied to the version of the api in use on your site. Your site is utilizing Version 2 of the maps javascript API.
It needs to be converted to V3 of the API.
Version 2 was turned off today, 5/26/21.
Documentation on that is here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/v2tov3

Just went through the process... glad we only have 6 locations! Using the API key, you can't enter the address, you have to drag the point all over the place while you try to find the location on the map.

Hi,

Google map is a third-party service, they changed the terms of use for Google Maps.
Unfortunately, we cannot affect it in any way.
They have stated long ago that it is necessary to use Maps with API keys.

Yes, there is no problem now and you can continue to use the Google Map control in our Editor without adding API keys, but we did nothing on our part.
Perhaps Google decided not to change the terms of use at this time, or it was a temporary malfunction.

If you want to secure your data and your sites, we recommend using the API key.

Using the API key, you can't enter the address, you have to drag the
point all over the place while you try to find the location on the
map.

Unfortunately, this is also a question for Google, they change the parameters of Map.
But we will try to simplify this process in our Editor.

Thank you for being with Nicepage.

Susanna I.

We will consider all possible options in order to prevent such problems of using Goole Map in our Editor.

At the moment, the Google map control works as it did. If there are changes, we will definitely inform you, please follow our news.

I didn't have to use an API key, I just selected 'address' instead of point, and entered the address in to the google maps element on the right, and done:-

I switched to my own Google Map API over a year ago, its not instant and easy like now, but I was expecting this change I'm glad I can pre-empt my website contact pages from not displaying the maps in the future.
