Ask a Question

Is there anyone who can help me?
I have asked Nicepage support but they have stopped helping / answering me.
The problem is: I created a web page, with 52 subpages.
One day Nicepage would not start anymore, so I was advised to reinstall the software. I did, but at the same time I moved the web page I had created to a new external hard drive.
What do I need to do to be able to reload the webpage in Nicepage?
There must be an easy fix here. What file in the webpage I made is the "project file" with all the information Nicepage need to open the webpage again? In "normal" web design software like Dreamweaver you find the folder with the index file, and you are good to go.

In the app, go to Preferences >> Project folder, and make sure it's pointing to the correct folder.

I have done that, but maybe I do it wrong?
Look at pic. 294, that is were all the files are. (in the Nicepage folder)
And on pic 295 you see that "Precerences >> Project folder" that is the same as where the files are.
When I select the NIcepage folder and click "Done" I get the following message. (pic 296)

The Nicepage folder shouldn't have another Nicepage folder inside like your last graphic shows for some reason.
How about selecting the "Casa Momassa 2021" folder instead?
Maybe it expects the Nicepage folder to be inside the chosen folder?
And I would definitely copy that folder somewhere safe as a backup just in case you never saved the project folder as a backup.
If that doesn't work, I would put it back to your C: drive where it was originally and make a project backup to save.

You mean the "Site_"number" folder? That one is something Nicepage has generatet itself when I have try to select correct "project folder"
If I select the "Casa Momassa 2021" folder, I don't get an error, but webpage will not open.
Is it possible to import it?

You can only import a project.zip file that was previously exported.
That Site_ folder is the working folder that the software uses.
If you can't get it working, I'd put the Nicepage folder back in the C:\Users\username\Documents\Nicepage structure where it originally came from, and point the preferences back to it, to see if you can get it working again.
I can't tell you how many users lost their sites trying to move folders where they aren't supposed to be without backing up their project files.

No. There’s a box to check when you export the html so it includes the project file.
Did you happen to check that box when you exported it?
Otherwise there’s a choice of exporting just the project file.

Hmmm. I did not select any of those option when I exported....
Just exported as html...
But as mention before, I have all files from the project, and have also uploaded all files.
How is this project file Nicepage use to put everything together?
The software can not be that bad, like if you have a disk crash etc. and need to use a backup, and it want be possible to restore what you had?
It must be possible to open a webpage made by Nicepage, with Nicepage, when you do a simple thing like changing location for the webpage.

You need the project file.
That’s the only thing you can import.
You need to include the project file when you export html sites.
I still recommend that you move the Nicepage folder back to your C: drive, change the preferences folder to point to it, and try opening it.
If you can, make sure you export the project file.

Ok, so what is the name of that project file? Is it the "site.JSON" file?
If that file need to be generated when you export to html, why don't Nicepage say so? Now it is just an option that you can check if you want (with warning that file size will be bigger)
How come Nicepage make this Nicepage folder "C:\Users\username\Documents\" When I worked with the webpage from another folder "K:\Dokumenter\Stig's dokumenter\Websider\Casa Momassa 2020"?
Are Nicepage using both locations for the webpage?

If Nicepage are only using the "C:\Users\username\Documents\" location, can you take a screenshoot of it? So I can see the exact folder structure.
And what is it with NIcepage and these "Site_<numbers>" folders it makes?(pic 299) I have a lot of them now on both locations.... Some of them with all the files from my webpage(pic. 300), and some with only a few files that has nothing to do with my webpage /pic. 301)

I'm really confused by the way Nicepage works, it's unlike any other program I've ever used, and it seems completely illogical to me.
But if I can just get my website back, then I'm happy. It can not be so hopeless that if I have not chosen to create a project file when I have exported, then it will not be possible to get back all the work I have done??

This is my folder structure, which is the default if you never move anything.
The name of the project file is project.zip, which is included when you specifically request it.

Thanks!
I will move my folder to the exact same location. I guess you have made two webpages since you have two folders?
Can you please also take a screen shoot of your path to the " preferences >> project folder" just to make sure everything is correct :-)

Yes, I only have 2 sites you can see with the Site_ folders.
Here's my project folder target.

What are the contents of the "project.zip" file? Is it just the exported .html and .css files? (Basically, is there any way to create the project.zip file outside of the Nicepage application itself?)

This is the most ridiculous setup ever. I have an entire webpage that I've exported to .html (that I've now moved to a new computer) and there's 'no way' to edit it in Nicepage unless I had exported a 'project file'? Please tell me that this is not the case.

Do you have access to the original system?
You can copy over the working folder.
Documents\Nicepage\Site_############
Or, yes, you need to copy the Project file over.

I do not have access to the original system...only the generated .html and .css files. Is there any way to generate a "Project file" using these files? I've tried just zipping them up (and then attempting to use the 'import page' function), but that doesn't work.

You’ll need to rebuild, but you can open the site in a browser, and copy/paste text and images over.
