2) We nearly ready to get out from beta and make an official release. Our product is almost stable and you can use it.

I'm confused. Typical a "lifetime" license includes all future product updates.

However, based on what Chris said, it sounds like we only receive updates for 1 year, even if we have purchased a "lifetime" license.

In light of this, I have a couple of questions:

(1) What does a "lifetime" license provide that would be different from (better than) a 1-year license?
-- Is it simply that we can continue using an old version of Newpage indefinitely, but we will NOT get any new features or bug fixes?

(2) What are the costs of renewing each of your different licenses after they have expired?

Ignoring the 1yr old thread necro here but by todays standards:

Lifetime means you can use the last version your update period lets you have, for the lifetime of the product. However you will NOT be entitled to customer support or new functions / updates issued AFTER your license expires.

This is common nowadays, you don't really pay for the product. You pay for support and the right to have updates during your licensed period. License expires > you can continue to use the last version you have for the rest of your (or the product's) life. Whichever comes first.

New version is released AFTER your license expires and you want it > you need to renew your support & update license.

The explanation above is correct, you indeed get the software for a lifetime, but the updates are free only for one year. You can use the current version forever after that, but the new updates will require the free updates period extension. That can be purchased at any time and will go with about 40% discount from the original edition price.

After one year how much do annual updates cost?

Hella said they were discounted, possibly around 40% off.

40% discount of the package cost in the current time or 40% of the same amount when I purchased ?

That is the current policy.
I'm sure even they don't know what they will be doing a year from now.
We can see if there's an official response.
