Canonical Links in every Nicepage website stops Google analyzing!

Ask a Question

Just now - by using Integrity Plus, I found out that all my websites designed in Nicepage contain ":canonical links", and that's why Google is not indexing all pages, only the index page. My "clients" are not happy!

It seems to be a Nicepage issue, because I read:
Multi-page website: Canonical URL in every pages refers to the same page "index.html". This means that google ignores all pages except "index.html". This is an SEO disaster.
This was written half a year ago. Why is this issue not solved? This very serious!
How can we change that?

Please inform me.

Hi Ben,

You can set the desired page canonical link under the page Properties >> SEO.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hello Olivia,

thank you for this answer.
I could set that link, but for me the question remains:
Why is automatically a canonical link set to index.html.

What is the reason? Because it means that a sitemap is also limited to the index.html page.

Sincerely,
Ben

Hi Ben,

This is an automatic setting that can be used on all website pages. This is the allowed parameter, and it is better than nothing. But you can set any canonical link.

Hi Olivia,

Yes I can, but it should be nice to have some example. Not everybody does know this.
But I think I found it how to include in a sitemap all pages:

Put for instance "https://politiepetten.nl/English.html" in the SEO Canonical of that page and the sitemap will also include this page.
I suppose SE's will than also see that page.

Still I do not understand why this is not done by default by the "makers" because it cannot be OK to exclude by default pages from a sitemap. Very strange!

Best,
Ben
