Wishlist

Hello NicePage,

I am watching your progress and improvements. Indeed, the nicepage developers have made good progress.

I am also sure that the list of "wishlist" improvements is long. And, I also recognize that it is impossible to satisfy all "wishlist" suggestions. At the risk of adding another to your list, I will make a suggestion - to add a feature that was very helpful in the desktop version of Artisteer.

Artisteer allowed users to edit HTML at a page level and saving these HTML edits. In this way, users could insert HTML code within the Artisteer application. Admittedly, some HTML code did not show properly in the application preview mode, but did show properly when viewed in a browser.

The important part of this suggestion is that Artisteer was able to save pages and compile code with manual HTML edits anywhere on the page (head and/or body). Manual HtML edits were not lost and could be further edited within the Artisteer environment. It was a one-button click to view/edit HTML code at a page level.

This feature in Artisteer was significant because HTML functionality that was not natively included in Artsteer could be added (e.g. Custom php, Frames, videos, JavaScript, etc.)

Yes, I do recognize that NicePage has a "Custom HTML" block and many special needs can be handled this way. Yet, the Artisteer solution was much more attractive and offered virtually unlimited creative possibilities.

Since it will be impossible for NicePage to satisfy all HTML functionality, I strongly suggest that NicePage implement a "page level" HTML edit feature. Such a feature would dramatically advance NicePage's functionality.

First of all a big compliment.
The development team is doing a really good job!

But I still know this function from Artisteer and I really miss it in Nicepage.

Greetings from Germany

Thank you Hella,

It was kind of you to reach out to me with your update. I have played with the HTML block a little more since the last update. And it does now allow me to place the HTML block over other blocks. There does seem to be some coding errors, and I am sure you will make the appropriate bug fixes.

This latest improvement in the HTML block is a step in the right direction. However, it is still not what I am looking for.

What I am looking for is a way to place HTML code in the same manner and float controls as placing an image in a Rich Text block.

There are many occasions that I would want to have rich text wrap (float) around an HTML tag. I could then have an HTML block inside a Rich Text block. This condition can happen when I want to place a video or Joomla extension {tag}, or script within text content AND have the rich text wrap (float) around the HTML block. The way that Nicepage inserts an image within Rich Text and has controls for float is the same function I would like for an HTML block.

It would be nice to have the content of the HTML block visible during preview, but it is not necessary. It would be okay to have the HTML block masked in a grey color for Nice Page preview mode. Of course, when Nice Page code is rendered in a browser, the HTML block would show properly.

Thank you for your kind consideration of my request.

P.S. I have been watching Nice Page development for a while now. And I must commend you and your development team on the fine work your are doing. Nice Page is now a viable product for many. And I am sure it will continue to grow in appeal, just like Artisteer did in its day.

Hi,

Due to some heavy reasons it won't be implemented and we have added the HTML control that you can use to add custom HTML code in any desired place on the page.

This is really a major, almost unforgivable weakness in this product that would preclude it's use by many. You must have access to the HTML at some point, that is an extremely basic requirement.

Looks like my German colleague echos my request. But I do have a more benign suggestion...

I understand that NicePage does not want to lose control of its code. So how about an HTML comment tag. In addition to allowing web developers to insert a simple comment that would show in HTML export, it would also allow joomla web developers to search and replace comments with appropriate joomla tags for other 3rd party extensions.

It seems to me that an HTML comment tag ( <!-- xxxxxx --> ) would be pretty easy to implement and would not compromise NicePage generated code integrity. It could be similar to the NicePage "code" function: change the <code> xxxxx </code> with <!-- xxxxxx -->. Simple.

Comment tags could be made part of the NicePage rich text block. A simple insert function could be added to the current widgets. Once inserted into text, the comment tag could be represented as a symbol. When a user clicks on the comment tag symbol, it could bring up a dialog box that allows a user to edit the contents of the comment tag.

I am certain that other implementations of a comment tag are also possible.

The advantages of such a function is obvious as many Joomla websites employ joomla extensions that use tags as a method of inserting the extension content.

Hi,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Unfortunately, we do not plan to allow editing of the Nicepage HTML directly in the editor as this will cause a lot of problems related to the editor functionality if you made even a small mistake. The HTML control allows embedding custom HTML (e.g. iframes), CSS, and js if needed. We also provide PHP control for CMS pages.
But we added your request to our wish list.
