Report a bug

Yesterday I stayed home and spent nearly 2 hours working on a landing page in a wordpress site using the nicepage plugin . The page was auto saving - great I thought, as I can always go back if I didnt like any changes.

Then I hit the preview option, and the preview page was displayed - BUT I made the mistake of hotting F5 to refresh this preview page. NicePage popped up a msg about if I refresh the page the changes may not be saved. I just hit F5 anyway.

HORROR - the page and ALL the changes I made GONE - and I was faced with a blank page. It was gone and no way of getting it back. The page was not in drafts, the page could not be got back by going back through the previous edits. I just had a blank page again.

I think nice page is great - but after this OMG no

Hi,

NicePage popped up a msg about if I refresh the page the changes may not be saved. I just hit F5 anyway.

Nicepage notified you that if you reload the page, you will lose your changes. But you decided to refresh the page. Not sure what else Nicepage can do. If you do the same in any web editor, you will face the same problem. You need to save changes to keep them.

Within the Nicepage plugin (just like the desktop app) you have non destructive editing , so you can always roll back all the changes you have made. I naively presumed that this would be the same when I previewed the page. The reason I hit F5 again was that the change I had just made was not reflected in preview mode (a caching problem I think)

Hi,

I hope that such an issue won't happen next time and you will check the warning message to avoid the loss of changes.

sounds to me like you're blaming nicepage for a mistake YOU made, despite it showing a warning that if you do what you did, you'd lose the changes. There's nothing to say that won't happen with that other product too.

non destructive editing mate - ever heard of it ? - maybe if your read the thread especially the bit where I said

Had I done the same thing in the desktop app - it wouldn't have happened. I am FULLY aware of the error I made by trying to refresh the preview page when using nicepage within wordpress.

Hi,

Nicepage Desktop application and plugin work a little differently in some aspects. That's why we display the message that you ignored for some reason. The main difference is that the page refreshing in the plugin causes editor reloading (reopening). Therefore all temp changes are gone during this process. And that's why we display the message. That you ignored.
