Ask a Question

How do we create a contact us form using the phpmailer script, but instead allow us to specify smtp hostname, user, and password? Using localhost doesn't work for us, as we use AWS.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the Nicepage sendmail script does not support SMTP settings. You should set up email sending on the webserver. But you can create and use custom script where you can specify SMTP settings if needed.

Thanks for the response. Yea running into a bit of a problem since our servers are in Amazon AWS, it appears hey blocked port 25, so need to be able to use SMTP so we can route directly to our o365 account, instead of phpmail or sendmail.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

You can create and use a custom script where you can specify SMTP settings. Unfortunately, the Nicepage send email script does not support sending emails using SMTP.

oh dear, stupid solutions, i see spams every day on my own mailservers trying port 465, 587, 993, and the ips is not in my own custommers ipranges at all, any one can use port 25 if that client ip is not rbl blacklisted, open port 25 and lets do more spamming from non custommers, hope aws know that thay doing, use sendmail is the right thing to do with sasl auth, no magic there, sorry for my rants here, i just live on the other side of world problems

FYI our aws servers are not open to other accounts and are strictly locked down to our use. Stop claiming about spamming and all that, if you don't know how to secure your box that's your problem. But don't rant here assuming that just because a port has been open spam will originate from here. Turd

And one more thing. If your server is an open relay, then you are the problem, you don't know how to secure your box, and maybe you don't deserve to be running your own server.

SO AGAIN... Don't crap on my thread saying stupid solutions! Learn how to do your admin job and maybe we all get less junk mail.
