The back up should be done by WP tools. Please let me know what error did you have? Is it related to Nicepage? Was there any error message?

I did get messages "changes saved", but where has it been saved when you don't have back up plug installed?

Nicepage doesn't create any backups of your website. It should be done with WP tools.
Have you restored your website with them?
