Website Project Folder Name Structure

Ask a Question

Trying to make sense out of the naming structure of projects saved to local drives i.e Windows.

I create and name my website in NicePage i.e ABC1234, I look at my Nicepage Dashboard and I indeed see the website project name ABC1234 - Yet when I look at the NicePage folder structure in Windows I see it's named something totally stupid: Site_3274096456

If I have a number and I mean a number of projects - how the heck can anyone know what website folder it is, this is again something totally stupid and no-logical and silly things like this makes me wonder why the heck did I spend good money on a Pro license.

Don't keep repeating the same mistakes as Artisteer & Themler - make it better not the same

Can this be resolved ASAP please

Hi Chae,

I'm not sure why you actually need to find your project within the Documents/Nicepage folder? That is the internal application folder structure that can be changed in any time by the program. And we strongly do not recommend to change anything in that folder manually.
You can perform any operation with your sites within the application UI.

Sincerely,
Hella

All I'm asking is why name it something stupid like you do with the images, If I call the project ABC1234 then it would be only correct to see that naming structure on the folder it's created in. There are reason why designers want to go to the project folder - to keep asset files together for example PSD files, sitemaps, concept artwork etc etc

If I create a new piece of artwork in Photoshop, I then use the generate jpg in the website project, I want to keep the master psd with everything related to the website...I have to then go to the Document/Nicepage/ folder and then try and work out which Site_????????????? folder to store my file under. If it was named logically then I would know straight away where the project related folder is.

Common sense, good house keeping and file management that's all :)

Hi Chae,

The name of the website folder is something like website identifier for Nicepage. This name is specified in the json file and Nicepage uses this identifier to load a website. You can use the same names for all your websites on Nicpage Dashboard. But identifiers of websites will be different always.

Please note that /Nicepage folder is for Nicepage application so it can load a website and allow its editing. Therefore we do not suggest making any changes to the website source files and folder as it may cause problems with launching these websites in Nicepage.

Thank you,
Olivia

I understand this but creating backup copies is difficult when the names are so different.

Hi,

If you need to back up the theme, simply export it as a Project and that .zip file will contain your site. You can then import it in any other Nicepage application installed on any computer.

Unfortunately Nicepage developers are still not getting the need for us the designers to have the project name the same as the domain name. If we have numerous projects I don't want to be backing up each one individually. I want to be able to use an auto backup and then replace the appropriate project by domain name or my choice of project name rather than going through a backup and opening each zip file individually to see what project is what and then restore the one I want.

Hi Chae,

This request is in our wish list. But I cannot say whether this issue will be implemented or now and when.

The need to find (and edit) the Nicepage folder in my case is to deal with images. If I try 123.jpg, don't like it and replace it with 321.jpg, both end up in the site - images folder. The thumbnails are unnamed so, at times, it is impossible to tell them apart. The only workaround seems to be delete the unwanted image before inserting the new one -A little unhandy if I change my mind again.
It would be useful to at least be able to see the image name in the MY IMAGES selection galery.
Thanks
Loyal

Hi,

Thanks, we'll consider your suggestion. For now you can use the trash sign on the image in the My Images tab before uploading the new image that looks the same.
