We do not have plans for such feature yet, but it is added to our wishlist. You can use some external code for such functionality and add it into the HTML control.

There you can insert the code for the audio player module.

I too would like audio added. It seems like such an easy and elementary element to include considering browsers have a built in player by using the <audio></audio> tags. The problem is having to fish out the path from Wordpress after uploading it to the media section.
