Göran,
Cell height is limited by paddings of it.
You can go to each cell and remove paddings and set HAlign: center and VAlign: middle.
Or
As advice for making such layouts as you want please follow the next actions:
1. Add Grid with 3x3
2. In the first cell remove top and bottom paddings:
3. Add Text and set align: Horizontal - Center, Vertical - Middle.
4. Duplicate Cell by dragging it with pressed CTRL(CMD) key to all Cells-Source:
5. Then you can minimize Height of rows until a text, and they will look like in Sparkle
And about your upgrade: you don't need to download anything to get all the benefits.
