Hi Nathan,
The application is for the lifetime and you can use the current version as long as you wish. But the free updates period comes for one year with the initial purchase and the new updates that are released after the free updates period expires require the additional purchase of the next year of free updates. But you can still use any of the versions that were released within your active free updates period. You can find the list of those versions here:
