Report a bug

Hello,

I just downloaded Nicepage to test it.

As far as I read on this page (https://nicepage.com/premium) there is a STARTER plan which allows creating 1 Site with 5 Pages and also allows "Desktop Application" to "Design and export to static HTML website".

I am testing the Mac version (2.4.1).

Why cannot I export the site I created with 1 page only?
Looks like a bug to me.
Or maybe, do I need some kind of free licence activation for it to work?

Kind regards,
DevY

I got the resolution:

the error message says:
"Unable to export the folder with project files"
(which means the software wants to export a folder and cannot do so)

while it should say:
"Unable to export to the folder with project files"
(which means the software wants to export to the folder where the project files are stored and cannot do so)

So the error message is misleading. You may want to correct it to speak clearly.

Hi,

Did you enable the following option when exporting?

include-projects.png

The Project export is not available in the free version.

Did you try exporting projects to the /Documents/Nicepage folder?

No, I did not enabled project export.

But I wanted to have everything related to Nicepage in just 1 folder, so I created an extra folder called "Exported-Sites" WITHIN /users/devy/documents/Nicepage that is actually the projects' folder of Nicepage by default. So Nicepage did not exported to this folder I created in the projects' folder. And the error message was not clear to me at once - I better suspected something was wrong with the free version.

The solution was to move my exports' folder to a different location OUTSIDE the projects' folder, so now I have:

1) /users/devy/documents/Nicepage as the projects' folder
2) /users/devy/documents/Nicepage-Exported-Sites folder for exports

and it works good.

Consider changing the error message "Unable to export to the folder with project's files" TO "Unable to export to the folder with project files. Please select a folder for exports outside your projects' folder." so that even non-English native users will be able to quickly and clearly understand and know the action they shall do to solve the problem. A little hint like this in error messages can save lots of hours for your users.

Best regards,
DevY

Hi,

Nicepage displays the following message when you try to export into the projects folder;

export-error.png

which means that you cannot export anything to the folder with Nicepage projects or to the subfolder inside this folder. And it is almost the same as you suggested:

"Unable to export to the folder with project files"

By default, Nidepage suggests different folder in the /Documents directory: \Documents\Nicepage Templates

Usually, the folder selection does not cause problems. There was a problem when the user exported HTML website to the projects folder and broke the project. We restricted exporting to this folder and added the message to avoid such problems. Since then, we have not received complaints about the export folder. Each user selects the folder he needs. You can choose any except the Projects folder.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

So, will you add "Please select a folder for exports outside your projects' folder." to the error?
Do you understand how better it would be to read that, too?
