Ask a Question

Hi!

I finished my onepage and wanted to upload to my Wordpess site. I downloaded your plugin and when I tried to upload it via Wordpress panel, said:

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

Also, I exported my onepage to a zip to Wordpress and when I tried to uplod the theme zip via Wordpress panel, it said:

The link you have followed has expired.
Please try again.

My hosting has told me that they can upload them via FTP, that possibly could be a size issue, BUT: I want to create websites to my VIP clients and if I have to tell them that they have to upload the theme via ftp, it's a headache and they won't want the website upgrade.

Can you make something with these issues? It's not normal that you sell Nicepage as a Wordpress theme creator and it's not possible to upload to Wordpress the easy way.

People want easy things without headache.

Thank you

Hi.

You need to increase upload_max_filesize value in php.ini.
You can't upload any big files trough WP, not only Nicepage, because you have limits at your server.

Hi María,

The issue is in the server settings and not Nicepage files. As your hosting has mentioned, the problem is related to the upload size limits that they have set on the server side. Please ask them to increase those limits so you could upload larger files.

But... Why is the first time I have had this problem? Never before, with any of the themes nor with any plugins I have purchased I had the problem of server size.

Why does it happen with Nicepage?

I only want to understand in order to be confident with offering websites designed with Nicepage to my clients.

Thank you

Hi María,

That is only because Nicepage theme with content and plug-in has a bigger size then your previous theme and your hosting provider uses some small limits on the upload file sizes. That is a common practice to ask the hosting to allow uploading larger files. Also if you use another hosting provider, you may have no such problems if they do not use such strict limits.

This no makes sense. Is makins the process more difficult to clients.

Ok. And could you do something to match the weight of the themes createdwith Nicepage to those templates that can be purchased?

Hi,

The size of the project mostly depends on the number of images. More images - a larger project size. Especially if you exported theme and content and you need to import the content.
If the server limits the size to 2M and you added an image with 3M filesize you will not be able to install this theme. The size of the blank Nicepage theme is 356KB.

Oh! I see! So, if I compress the images, it would be less heavy.

Ok, thank you!!

That was a fantastic explanation :)

It's not easy, but you can upload a very large site. What I did was to use the file upload tools provided by my hosting provider.

I extracted the nicepage zip that was exported from the desktop app for Word Perfect to a folder with the same name as the site, on my PC
I then went to the file management program provided by my hosting provider
I located the Wordpress install folder, /wp in my case, then the /wp-content/themes
I then created a folder with the same name as my web site in my case bragdytanatwales inside the themes folder
I then created every folder inside this with the same name (including capital letters) as the folders inside the zip
I copied the contents of each folder to the Wordpress folder wp/wp-content/themes/bragdytanatwles/ into its corresponding folder
From Wordpress I then installed the nicepage theme, following instructions from step 9 in
https://nicepage.com/doc/67475/installation-of-wordpress-plugin

I must say that it performs slightly better than in Joomla
