Ask a Question

Hi - how do I install the Joomla add-in on a server that has a 2mb upload limit? The downloaded file is 2.85mb.

I have uploaded the template by copying the files to my server but can't import the content without the add-in being installed. My server has a 2mb limit on files so I can't use the regular Joomla installer. I tried copying the add-in zip file to my tmp directory, extracted it and got a folder path "com_nicepage/admin/".

So what path do I put into the Joomla "install from folder" area to get the add-in to install?

I've tried ".../tmp/com_nicepage" and ".../tmp/com_nicepage/admin" but get the error "JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file" on both.

Hello,

Upon trying to install the Joomla extension the following error occurs

Nicepage Component installation failed
JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.

I am running on localhost, on IIS without any limitations of file size. (64MB)

I have tried the second option of uploading the unzipped extension to the tmp folder of the site this is the error
Nicepage Component installation failed
Copy failed: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Joomla_3.9.6\tmp\installer/../install.css to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Joomla_3.9.6/tmp/install.css

Note the fact that because we are on a Microsoft environment we are getting the slashes used for a Linux environment which might be the reason why it is not working.

Could you please help?

Thank you
Cherif Bedran

Hi Julie,

The plugin archive contains the following files for component, plugins, and module:

plugin-files.png

If you extracted the archive into the .../tmp/npaddin and the current structure is:
.../tmp/npaddin/com_nicepage
.../tmp/npaddin/installer
.../tmp/npaddin/mod_nicepagemenu
etc

then you should specify the path to the .../tmp/npaddin folder where setup XML file is located. Be sure that the specified path is a proper relative path to this folder.

Also, please be sure that all files provided on my screenshot are in the /npaddin folder.

But I recommend that you increase the limit in the upload_max_filezise directive in php.ini on your server.

Thank you,
Olivia

Thanks for replying. Yes, trying to install the add-in. I've extracted the file called "joomla_nicepage_plugin-1.0.76" to ".../tmp/npaddin". The structure of the folder for npaddin is:

com_nicepage
admin
assets
access.xml

So what is the path I need to put into the Install from folder option in Joomla? None of the following works:

.../tmp/npaddin
.../tmp/npaddin/com_nicepage
.../tmp/npaddin/com_nicepage/admin
.../tmp/npaddin/com_nicepage/admin/assets

All return the error "JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file"

Need more help please :)

Hi Julie,

how do I install the Joomla add-in on a server that has a 2mb upload limit? The downloaded file is 2.85mb.

The upload max file size can be increased manually in the php.ini file. If you don't know how to do it I suggest that you contact your hosting provider regarding this issue.
This is the most easier way to solve this issue. A lot of extensions have an archive size greater than 2 MB. Therefore it is better to increase the file size limit.

As I understand you're trying to install Nicepage plugin for Joomla downloaded from our website? Simply unzip the archive into some folder like /test and then specify the path to this folder under the joomla Extensions. Joomla should find the files for all plugins and component and install them.

Thank you,
Olivia
