I thought I commented on one of many old threads about small viewport on mobile devices. - Apologies I cannot find it, hence this new thread.

If I understand correctly your default screen width is 420 px and your argument for not providing an additional screen width of eg 360 is because "there are not many phones on the market with a 360px viewport" - correct me if I am wrong

See list here

Please give me a good reason why you cannot provide a screen width of 360px in addition to the default 420px.

Even better would be to allow users to add custom width to suit various viewports

Hi Colin,

As mentioned in this article, we do support devices with 360px width, we do not support the smaller ones and we do not intend to change it as there are indeed not so many devices like this used nowadays:

Just set the smaller content width in the settings and everything should be fine.

Hi Perhaps I was not clear.

If I understand correctly your default viewport width for mobile devices is 420px, I can change that to anything down to 360 - which I will be doing from now on.

As there are a wide range of fairly modern devices which are below 420 and a lot of more modern devices above 420 my request is:

Offer an additional design width - call it small mobile or 360 mobile. So that users can add settings for both mobile sizes (360 and 4200. Having two mobile sizes would probably cover the vast majority of recent devices back to Samsung s20 and older and iPhone 13 and older but also work well for newer devices and those that will come on the market.

Would you do this for your customers?

Hi Colin,

We can consider your suggestion but I'm not sure that we can add a second phone portrait mode soon.

I will assume you have not added my request for a second mobile design setting for eg 360px has not been added to your roadmap.

Regarding small screens.

Am I correct that if I have viewport width set to eg 420, then when I open in a mobile phone with a smaller viewport that excel content will always overflow to the right?

If yes, is there a global setting I can add to the design so that overflow is evenly spread on both sides of the screen - ie all grids and cells are centred by default?

Hi Colin,

We have added your request to our wishlist, but it does not guarantee that the feature will be implemented.

As for the content positioning, it cannot be centered, but if you set the content width to 420 instead of 340px that will fit all old devices as well, then the scrollbar is added to the content and it overflows only on one side.
In any case, we recommend to set the content width to 340 px and that will solve the problem and the content won't overflow any screen.
