Ask a Question

I am converting an existing php website to Joomla with nicepage and I have paid massive amounts of money for ads that point to https://www.celtictime.com/destinations/Scotland/2024/outlander-tours-scotland-2024.php

Is it possible with Joomla to retain this naming structure?

Hello Kathie,

Thanks for reaching out to us

It is possible to retain a similar URL structure when migrating a website to Joomla with Nicepage. Joomla allows you to create SEF (Search Engine Friendly) URLs for your pages.

To achieve this, you can follow these general steps:

  1. Create a Menu Item:

    • In Joomla, create a menu item for your page. You can do this by going to the "Menus" section in the administrator backend and creating a new menu.
    • Add a new menu item and link it to the desired content or page.
  2. Configure SEF URLs:

    • Joomla has built-in SEF functionality. You can enable it by going to "System" > "Global Configuration" > "Site" tab.
    • Set "Search Engine Friendly URLs" to "Yes" and "Use URL Rewriting" to "Yes" as well.
  3. Configure Article/Content:

    • When you create or edit an article (content) in Joomla, make sure to set the article alias to reflect the desired part of the URL.
    • You can do this in the "Publishing" tab of the article editor.
  4. Test the URL:

    • After configuring the menu item, SEF URLs, and article alias, test the URL to ensure it displays as expected.

Here's a simplified example based on your provided URL:

Remember that you might need to adjust this based on your Joomla setup and preferences. Creating a backup of your site before making significant changes is advisable. If you encounter any issues, you can refer to Joomla's documentation or seek further assistance.

Ahmad.
